What do you base that assessment on? He's a recent international who until recently was the number one keeper at a top 4 club. He was player of the season at Sheffield United just three years ago. What metric are you comparing him and McCarthy?

So are you suggesting that Ramsdale under Sheffield United wasn't better than present day McCarthy would have been? How do you think he got a move to arsenal in the first place?

Imagine a team like saints turning their nose up at a signing like Ramsdale.

He would have let in less against Newcastle that's for sure and statistically is far more likely to let in less over a season.

The fact is he's significantly better than McCarthy who would undoubtedly let in shedloads more playing for us than Ramsdale. It would be a big coup to persuade him to play for us.

Experience as well and we can't get a loan from the prem.

Fair enough. Personally I'm not sure that gelling was the issue in the previous match, it was the tactical setup. Maybe it would give them a chance to tweak things but I'm not sure how possible that is against Cardiff (and isn't that what preseason is for???).

It would be interesting if Martin had the perfect players for his system how it would work. I wonder if it would have more of a goal threat in that scenario or if it's simply the system that creates this scenario and not the players.

At this point next year then quite possibly. Dibling, SAA, THB, Downes, kwp if he stays, Fernandes. They all may perform well enough to have Premier league interest but without collectively performing well enough to keep us up.

If they have breakthrough years it could be the likes of Dibling and SAA we say goodbye to.

For Martin the result is less important than the way we play. I genuinely think he would prefer not to win playing the way with his principles than win in a different way.

Sadly could be a predictor of where we might be next year.

I expect the posters are different people. Personally I don't think he's ever had a proper chance and if we had signed him this season with his previous goal record we would be quite excited.

Anyone else a bit more interested in seeing the team for this than the forest game? 90% of the 11 for the last game we already know about their strengths and limitations and we knew roughly how they would perform. Quite excited to see the likes of Edwards, Dibling from the start, lesley, Fernandes, Archer etc.

Could say the same about Jack clarke tbf.
