The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I actually think it's right that as a responsible country we take a reasonable share of people who are genuinely fleeing for their lives as long as they are willing to contribute to the country and share our values. I just don't believe that anyone entering the country illegally should be allowed to stay because it simply incentives everyone to try it. -

For a start change the law. Leave the ECHR, announce that anyone coming over on small boats is breaking the law and is a criminal and no one would be allowed to stay. Patrol the waters, you could look into creating a processing facility on a smaller island but that might not be feasible. You should definitely look into creating secure bases that can house people where you wouldn't be free to roam about the local community. Look to get those detained removed from the country as quickly as possible. Threaten some nations with sanctions if they refuse to take back their people. At the same time you could offer to cooperate with the French in order to properly police things on their end. After a short period of that it would remove most invcentives for trying to cross on a small boat and the numbers attempting to do so would drop like a stone. Not saying I necessarily agree with that by the way but it would be more effective than what we have now -
It seems like the only team having a tougher time of things than us is Norwich. Potentially our fate in a year or two.

We could easily stop it or at least massively reduce it but many in power are uncomfortable to do it because it feels unfair. -
Both candidates the government had chosen to lead the Pakistani rape gang inquiry have now withdrawn after 4 months with not a lot happening. What a complete shitshow.

Ffs... It’s like a scene from a farce: Home Office sources have confirmed that one person sent to France under the UK-France treaty – which allows people who cross the Channel to Britain in small boats to be sent back in exchange for bringing the same number in France to the UK via a legal route – is now back in the UK. He returned by a small boat. -
I'm not sure your anecdotal evidence of females you know is of any more value than the absolute ton of evidence from women who very much do mind. There's also men with daughters and other female relatives who mind very much. Also worth pointing out that if you have an issue with men in general then that would include trans women.

Yeah he's just not good enough for this level I'm afraid and not experienced enough. We've brought in loads of players and then aren't utilising them correctly. Most of them are sat on the bench or not in the squad. I'm not sure who to bring in but get someone with championship experience.

I've been to three games this season. I can't see myself wasting my time any time soon until they give me a reason
-
The good news when we are so bad is that I just stop caring. I gave up after a few games last year and just coated to the end of the season trying to find the funny side out of it all. A couple more like this and I'll be doing the same this season.
-
One of our best half hours of the season for the first half hour with numerous chances and controlling the game and 78% possession. Then we scored and sat off and let them score. Second half I stopped watching when we went behind again so no idea.

OK that's it. Still out.

There's loads of issues with children and women. Trans ideology and the real world harm that has been done to children because of it is one issue and it involves both men and women (oh and of course trans women are biological men.)
-
I find that phrase very odd. When you have institutions like the NHS rowing in behind this stuff to the point that women are forced to change in the presence of a biological man, how is that lacking power? Until recently did you see the annual accounts of Stonewall and the amount of big businesses lining up behind gender ideology? It's not actually about punching anyone- metaphorically or otherwise-for many it is about protecting children and young people who don't know any better from doing irreversible harms to themselves in order to chase a fantasy that doesn't exist.
-
Thankfully many of these people who said they were trans did it for attention and most made no changes beyond a bit of makeup and clothing. The ones who took puberty blockers or had surgery are the ones who have had permanent alterations done and will rightly feel devastated by the choices the adults in their lives made. They were meant to protect them. It's a tragic situation all round but I hope any medical professionals involved are jailed for a long time.

Who could possibly have guessed.

As far as I am aware it was never the policy to investigate non crime hate incidents, as evidenced by the fact that loads of people had/have files written on them that they know nothing about until they put a request in. Graham linehan wasn't bring investigated for a NCHI he was being investigated for substantive offences. The main issue is the recording of them since they show up on enhanced dbs checks and can adversely affect your ability to get a job through no fault of your own.
-
Lisa Nandy highlighting that this decision was taken "in no small part because of the risk posed to them because they support an Israeli team and because they are Jewish." Also points out that an entire away support hasn't been banned in this manner in over 25 years. I would suggest that a member of the government would know a bit more about the reasons for the ban than the people on here.
-
What change? They were never investigated and they've said they will still record them.
-
No? You said yourself that it wasn't the only reason.
-
But we know that isn't the only reason they've been banned.
-
Indeed. Lets say hypothetically Wolves and West Ham are two of the teams who go down. It would be incredibly difficult to compete with the likes of them, particularly when we will be losing Charles, probably Downes, maybe Robinson. We want to be pushing for promotion ASAP. Having a year to build is something people say in hindsight after you've done a Leeds and it's all worked out. It doesn't always work like that. Had Leeds not gone up last year they would be fucked.
-
That certainly doesn't sound like the type of hooliganism that would reasonably result in a blanket ban of away fans. I haven't looked into it tbf.
-
No one has argued that there isn't a hooligan element within their fanbase though. I haven't said you aren't allowed to repeat a point that as far as I can see no one has contested, I'm just questioning why you are doing so. "Some see the banning of an islamophobic mob as an anti-Semitic act which it isn't." What people and where? Given that you have accepted yourself that these people haven't been banned for being an "islamophobic mob" how can you know that what you are saying is true? If the police had been explicit that this was the only reason that this group were banned and there was opposition then maybe you'd have a point but that hasn't happened.
