  1. I think one big problem we had is that we are a newly promoted side so lots of people would not have wanted to join us. Yes we spent money but the question is whether we could have got other targets who actually wanted to join us. I think we would have majorly struggled to get any improvements on Sugawara, Downes, big Les, Ramsdale and probably Fernandes though he's unproven. That's why it's quite difficult to rate the transfer window. I suppose you could compare us to Ipswich but the argument there is they had more leeway in their squad. I definitely think attack is a rather obvious weakness still and we could look back and wonder why we went for BBD and Archer but again I couldn't see many attacking options available who would want to come here. Regarding your starting 11, you can't expect anyone to take you seriously if you've put Manning in there. He was a liability in the championship.
  2. No I'd say your post that those who disagree with you do so because they object to people who use long words and the implication of that that they are thick, says a lot about how you view people who disagree with you. This may give you an indication about why some of your posts are viewed with hostility. I would suggest that simply disagreeing with an opinion in a respectful manner without disparaging the intelligence of other posters is more likely to be better received.
  3. It certainly appears to be the case. I thought he may be a bit more effective in this system but if anything he looks worse so far- albeit it has only been three games.
  4. Will be interesting to see who we have next year if relegated. At a guess: Bazunu Bree Wood/Stephens Edwards Taylor Charles Smallbone Aribo Armstrong Lallana BBD Archer? Pretty good championship team there with maybe strengthening needed in midfield.
  5. More than any other player I'd like him to be a success this year. You get the feeling that if he can't produce then it's basically confirmed that he isn't up to it and he may not ever get a chance at this level again.
  6. I'd say that the hostile reception you receive has rather a lot more to do with the manner and style of your posts rather than the fact you may use a long word. The fact you believe it's because of that may provide a clue as to why you have provoked strong reactions.
  7. You're right. He didn't really look good at all.
  8. So if we go just on the summer, it appears that two out of the ten have been any sort of a success. So maybe 2/10 is more accurate.
  9. Does anyone have the incomings from that window? I could do with a laugh.
  10. Quite a powerful letter. Let's hope John Lewis act on her very valid concerns.
  11. What gives you that confidence?
  12. So it's a case of shoot the messenger? What here has he said that is incorrect?
  13. Yep that's the primary weakness of our manager. The best managers have a level of flexibility and utilise the tools they have. Not Martin.
  14. I don't much care if Adam and Martin tag team Pinder over the changing room massage table. If he performs well and gets us points then what he does outside of that is irrelevant.
  15. I'm not sure you can make that judgement after three games when he hasn't played in a 4.
  16. I'll be honest. I've never warmed to the bloke in the way I did with Adkins. I think there's more than an element of him being in it for himself and the actual club not being particularly important to his project. However I did say at the start of the season that he got us up and deserves to do things his way. I expect he's quite a proud bloke and he should be given the chance to show that he can adapt now and make the necessary changes as he did last year. Even if we lose to United we need a much improved performance with signs that we are moving in a different direction which at the moment is breaking the record low points total.
  17. There was loads of times this week and last where we weren't punished for mistakes. Like you say if you make enough of them they catch up with you eventually.
  18. Obvious troll is obvious.
  19. You're deluded.
  20. Shame we don't have any strikers with the ability to do that.
  21. Really liked that write up apart from the last paragraph. That was a really gripey downer.
  22. Not convinced me he's a premier league player yet. Very limited ability on display so far.
  23. This is Martins first taste of the premier league and it shows to be honest. Unfortunately for him it's not the fans' first time. We have a solid history in this league and we know the managerial and player requirements to do well. If we are failing then it certainly isn't the fan's fault if they question the football or the methods. He should be given time to turn it around but he's not going to do that by railing against people questioning his methods. There needs to be some humility and acknowledgement of his own failings. He can call it tweaking if it makes him feel better but he needs to be more realistic with what is required in this league and our calibre of players. What's wrong with building towards the football he wants to play whilst having some level of pragmatism in the meantime until he's built a more solid base of player?
  24. Bereton Diaz is essentially the Adam Armstrong for the opposite side. Both totally out of their depth at this level. Another awful season for Armstrong and I'm afraid it could destroy his confidence as it will prove once and for all that he can't perform at this level.
