  1. Alpine, just a word to the wise. A lot of what you post makes good sense, even if people don't necessarily agree with you. You do have a history, and to try for a clean slate with the same name is initially a trifle unrealistic. I have really no interest in vitriolic cyber arguments, which descend from reason to stupidity and name calling. There is no doubt that some people on this site see your posts like a red rag to a bull. In the past I have witnessed the arguments and cringed at the comments which reminded me of playground name calling. If you want a fresh start, your posting needs to be more dispassionate and whilst resisting the temptation to bite back, still make the points that your undoubted intelligence and eloquence would make interesting to all posters. If those that try to wind you up succeed, you again lose the support of the majority. Conversely if they don't succeed you will have the support of many, rather than being viewed as a rabble rouser.

    has this site

Penny to a pound rumours of another underfunded takeover on borrowed money. Hole /head comes to mind.
  3. I understand how you feel, I have watched Saints live/recorded on tv in Peru, Ecuador, US, India, Malaysia, Canada, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and many other places, I wish that I could have had the website it would have made supporting Saints much easier. Canada Saint is an old mate, I know he values the access. I like the discussion but don't see how anyone can be critical without seeing the match.
  4. Merrington and the commentator sounded as though this was the first game they have seen this season. They were both very negative before the game, critical about using young players and then sounded really surprised how the team played.
  5. Not strong enough, lightweight, fancy dan Schneiderlin, pretty football. If you don't watch the team how can you make comments like this.
  6. A very eloquent view. If you did this, it wouldn't constitute an opinion on a team, players, or match you hadn't seen. But you didn't do this, you were specific with your criticism of the team. Since the people who attended the match, have posted, it sounded a reasonable performance, if not a great result.
  7. I think there is more of it on here, however there seems a much more positive reaction from those attending the matches, which is the important thing.
  8. The set piece weakness showed v Celtic,WHU and Stoke. Kelvin sounds as though he had a better all round game today catching crosses and better distribution, together with good shot stopping? I haven't rated him but he sounds better.
  9. We need many more posts like this. A good read.
  10. As we did in the three games I have seen so far.
  11. Posting is not necessarily passing an opinion on a match. What I find valueless is posting opinions on a match based on the opinions of people who didn't see the match.
  12. You are entitled to an opinion, however an opinion on a team you haven't seen, or a match you haven't seen, is valueless in my view. I will only pass an opinion on players and matches I have actually seen. If I don't see the matches I will be reading with interest posts from those that were there, ignoring those that are passing opinions without seeing the matches. That is why we really need a postmatch thread exclusively for those who attended each match.
  13. I haven't got an opinion on the Cardiff match except I would have preferred a draw. I have got an opinion on the Celtic, WHU and Stoke games, as I saw the games. I will have an opinion on the 30+ games I will see this season. I respect the opinion of those that attend the matches even if it differs from mine. However I have no time for opinions formed by people who haven't seen the match or team they are pontificating on.
  14. A good idea, but do you really think people would let them do that, without filling up the thread with their uninformed opinions?
  15. The first post from somebody at the match. IMO a valuable insight. Statistics mean little, Radio commentaries give an opinion of the state of play in real time from professional witnesses. Opinions of the actual event without being there are worthless.
  16. What football fan in their right mind would expect any CCC team to play at Cardiff and not come under pressure. It is great experience, that this young team will now be aware of, and realise they have to pick up the pace when under pressure. They will improve, unlike last years team.
  17. What really ****es me off, is the self opinionated cyberfans who never seem to go to any games, but use their computers as statistical instruments to pontificate on the team, when it is obvious they are talking rubbish. They really should get a life, the only opinions worth listening to, and they vary, are people who have seen the match.
  18. I watched Sky and listened to Solent. It sounded like Davis had a decent game. I don't like him as a goalkeeper but he seems to have sharpened up his game a bit, claiming crosses and better distribution. Sky's reporting was totally onesided. Solent commentary indicated Saints did well and didn't deserve to lose. Any team will at times be under pressure at Cardiff. It sounded that we did all right.
  19. I agree, I've just watched BirminghamvSU, what frenetic utter dross.
  20. MLT wasn't a playmaker more a free role striker. Berkovich was a decent player, this lad looks like a real find and can head, tackle and link up the play. Belmadi and Idiakez played in teams with no pace, movement or dynamism, I thought neither were as influential as they should have been, apart from long periods injured. Results are not everything. I want to watch decent football not the crap served up in recent years by the so called experienced and may I say, slow, disappointing, overpaid, underperforming, unmotivated, unfit and disinterested players. Why wouldn't I and others be optimistic we are getting rid of the players who let us down.
  21. He didnt make the squad last year either.
  22. Hooray, three positive posts in a row, the team gives us hope after the dross of the last three years. I really don't care about the results, of course I want to win, but for me I want to see good football.
  23. He hasn't got a clue what we are talking about with this team. It is light years better than anything we have put out in the last 3 years. Schneiderlin is easily the best passer of a ball I have seen in that time.
  24. Have you seen the new team?
