See the "Libel reminder" sticky thread...
-
It seems as though I need to issue yet another reminder about posting libellous or potentially libellous content on the forum. The libel law in the UK is very heavily weighted in favour of the target of the defaming comments, and as far as posts on internet message boards are concerned, any such claim for libel could be levied against not just the individual who posted the original comments, but also anybody who quotes them, anybody responsible for moderating the site and indeed the company who provide the hosting for the site. As such, libellous comments WILL be deleted, without fail. Repetition of the libel from this point onwards WILL result in the appropriate sanctions. I suggest re-reading the forum rules if you are still unclear. Given the timing of my post here, I'm sure it's fairly obvious which particular story I'm referring to.

Not in the slightest. Let the dust settle, collect his pay-off, then maybe start talking after that. He won't say a word until he's received his money though, you can be sure of that. He won't want to even come close to breaching the terms of the NDA before he's got the money.
-
You reckon he'd have been on more than £6k a week?! Consider the timing of when we bought him, everything was being scaled back. I'll be amazed if he's on more than £2k a week, and even that's probably after bonuses.
-
I assume it was somewhat forced upon us in order to get £1m for (crocked, as it turned out) Andrew Davies. In the end, I think we did alright out of that particular deal, it's not as if we've had to expose Pulis to the first-team at any stage, after all

Player contracts expire on 30th June, regardless of when during the year they were signed. He'll be here until next summer.

Firstly, that's a bit of a novel concept, completing a leveraged buyout secured against an asset the company doesn't actually own! Secondly, getting financial advice from pawnbrokers

Anything that ****es Billy Davies off is a good thing IMO. On the subject of transfer committees, I would expect it's no different at other clubs. The manager will select a few players he particularly likes, the chief scout will report back on a number of players he's seen, and then the pair of them plus whoever's in charge of the finances (Cortese in our case) and possibly one other (Reed) would discuss their merits, what the squad's key requirements are, whether they fit into the budget, etc.

You're trying my patience.

Unfortunately, I'd say yes. In the games he's played this season, he's looked a bit of a liability. The Fonte/Martin partnership not only looks fresher, it also has a presence and an air of confidence about it, IMO.

Please tell me this isn't Cortese standing next to Dean Wilkins

Locked for fairly obvious reasons -
Surely that's a rather large contradiction in terms there?
-
They've not had any pies for sale at any of the games so far this season.

The odds on new manager markets should be ignored most of the time - because it's a relatively low-stakes market, any moderate bet on any of the names (even something like £20) can affect the odds significantly.

Their source is probably Paul Hart. In much the same way as Tony Adams was reportedly high on our shortlist a year ago, and it turned out to be absolute ********. Still, that we're linked with a proven failure.

You seem to have a complaint about absolutely everything this site does. If you're that bothered, why not go elsewhere? -
Fixed. I'll spend an hour or so tonight trying to work out why some predictions aren't saving. Bit strange that some are but others aren't.

I just think we would want as long as possible to bowl them out, given they're likely to be on the defensive right from the start. They're not going to be chasing runs with pretty much zero chance of winning the game, so if we were to bowl them out for 200-odd, that would give us a whopping target of about 30. I'd fancy our chances there

Jimmy's gone for 196 Might let Vince get the one run needed to get 150, but should be declaring now really.
-
Expect we'll bat until we get to 400 - thus securing maximum batting points - and then declare, seeing if we can skittle them cheaply this afternoon. We've got 11 overs to score 33 runs, so would expect we should manage that comfortably.

Just had a lunchtime chuckle reading back through this excellent article from March. Storrie

Of course he's not endearing himself to a buyer, Chainrai is his buyer and he's going to do whatever it takes to ensure nobody else comes on the scene, even though anyone would have to be utterly mental to do so.
