  1. No, the thread ran for a pretty long time but had reached the end of it's "usefulness". I do think it helped clarify a number of points and I don't blame the OP for starting it at all. However, at the end of the day it's not the average poster who will carry the can if something is construed/misconstrued as racist, isn't that the point of this thread !? A few people don't help to make moderating this board an easy task though most of us are very reasonable people and as such I don't believe would blame the Mods for closing a thread if it seemed to them it might attract unwanted attention.
  2. Ah, saint kip, posted some real rubbish on here when he'd had a few too many but could be quite amusing. Whatever did happen to him ? I think someone might have told me before but if so sorry my memory is failing in my old age
  3. Yes, but we had a certain young player named Micky Channon to replace him ! I believe Chivers wanted to move anyway, we also got Frank Saul as part of the deal. So I think it is fair to say we did not suffer too much as a result of the transfer albeit Chivers was clearly a very good striker. Saints losing players to Spurs, sounds familiar.
  4. He hasn't got much going for him TBH ! I guess he's Ok as a player to bring off the bench to add "something different! "
  5. Lol, no of course not ! If that was a reason on here for a ban then it might get quite lonely
  6. Yes, me too. Name and shame I say.
  7. Lol, that is so typical !
  8. They do post a list of those banned and the reasons why : http://www.northstandchat.com/forumdisplay.php?f=47 Edit: Some pretty unsavoury characters on there it has to be said.
  9. Think it has been reopened, was closed earlier. I believe that is what the original link showed.
  10. That's more like it !
  11. No, of course they were not misquoted, how often do you hear that when it suits? Pretty damned hard to misquote a statement as simple and blatant as this: “There are other places in the town for parents with small children to go.” There are other places the Council can go as well but I'm sure I can leave it to everyone to decide what they might be !
  12. Any other bright ideas
  13. THAT thread did run and run and if anything was allowed to go on too long since by the time it was closed I'd say everything that needed to be said had been said and in many cases more than once.
  14. Flukey goals then? Now I'm confused again
  15. Ok thanks, I was guessing that might be it but was too lazy to check ! I even have SSP1 as well so might now watch it!
  16. I'm confused !
  17. Unfortunately not enough of us do seem to know what to do !
  18. Spot on, without feelings we are nothing and the vast majority on here realise and respect that. We are all of course a very diverse bunch brought together by our love for Saints but beyond that many of us will not have a lot in common. People will do well to remember when posting that they are having a discussion with real people.
  19. We're not far from that point already to be honest !
  20. Presumably they want one parent at least from each family to drop everything else and become a teaching assistant so they can keep in touch with what their own kids are doing. Blimey, years ago my Dad used to come and watch me play football for the school team and if it was an away game drive me a a few other kids home. He'd probably get charged with kidknapping these days !!
  21. Yes, it can be a fine line between something which might not be intentionally racist but could be construed as such. I agree with you Smirking Saint that I've never been aware of anyone stirring up racial hated on here. Equally Ponty and the Mods need to err on the side of caution so any accusation of being "over zealous" is really unfair since it is their necks primarily on the line.
  22. I want to believe, the truth is out there !
  23. Which shows how right people are on here to take note of anything which might appear racist, fair play it's invariably dealt with when it occurs very swiftly. A warning to all footie forums I suggest.
  24. Sadly absolutely nothing surprises me with Watford Council, their policies on virtually everything are wishy washy at best. According to our wonderful Mayor “The playgrounds are not a meeting place for adults. We have reviewed our procedures, so although previously some parents have stayed with their children at the discretion of our play-workers, this is not something we can continue to do. “There are other places in the town for parents with small children to go.” Like where exactly ? They demolished the only swimming pool years ago. Last I looked the space was still unused though I guess they'll build flat/houses at some point if they haven't started already. They really are pathetic, thankfully little of what they do has any affect on me and I'm truly grateful I don't drive with continual roadworks and parking for many residents very difficult at the best of times. On match days it's nigh on impossible and I strongly supect Watford has more parking wardens per capita than any town or city in the world not to mention thugs who pose as clampers. Sorry, straying off the point but did I mention I'm not a fan of Watford Borough Council !
  25. No, I'm not a northerner TBH.
