  1. 4-1 Saints !
  2. Why not !
  3. Very strange to wait 90 minutes, would have a least given him a few early overs but for sure ultimately we need him to bowl lots of overs!
  4. So he was picked on the basis of horse for courses I assume!
  5. 332 all out is not a surprise. Broad out for a useful 37 and Harmison 12 not out. Just a slight bit of impetus at least for those 2 when they bowl shortly. We need 2 or 3 by lunch ideally.
  6. TBH I don't think many players in League One are household names, rather an obvious point in fact. However, even with my limited knowledge of Lge 1 from last season I had heard of Lambert and Hammond. In addition I have heard very good things about Mellis and Trotman and I don't consider Murty or Harding as not good enough at this level. At times if I did not know better I would think we are still in the CCC.
  7. I did also read this from a Surrey supporter who knows the Oval well: "This is no ordinary Oval pitch - it was breaking up in the footmark areas in the first session (!) and spinning very early. Shane Warne reckons 330 is a good score on it. "
  8. Weather looks set fair with just the slight chance of a shower. I'll settle for 30/40 more given we could add none never mind 100 !
  9. Good as it is currently dry here as well but looks as if we could get a shower or two but I reckon it would take Notts 2 full days to even get on par so we can certainly afford to attack which will help Tahir above all, some Warney type field placing called for Dimi! Real shame though that it seems Notts have Sidebottom in the team now to bolster their batting
  10. Yes, that also has to be a consideration as we don't want the likes of Saganowski and Rasiak on our wage bill unless they actually realise they have played their part in the problems we have had in the past few years and decide they want to stay AND give 100%. But that's not going to happen I feel so offload them and bring in a couple of players who do want to play.
  11. Way, way too positive for this board TBH !! Will just say though that's not far removed from the sentiments I voiced on the Swindon game thread and I did make the point that 6 signings in 5 weeks, all good quality IMO, plus keeping Davis who I feel sure was intent on leaving is a really excellent effort by Pardew. However, rather than look at that side of things and realise ( what is actually obvious ) that time has not been on Pardews side from the day he took over I see a few people even suggesting he should be sacked !?? What complete nonsense.
  12. Look in the record books, it was a goal !! I can't recall if it was an indirect free kick, that sort of thing tends not to stick in your memory, but I don't recall either any fuss being made at the time about whether the goal should have been disallowed.
  13. Oh boy, a slight over reaction by a few I suggest. 3 league games gone and looks like we are already doomed to relegation and as for Pardew why give him any more time to turn things around, let us just sack him now! :smt102 One of the more bizarre suggestions I have read on here and that is saying something. Not surprised at all by the 1st three games but we have already signed Hammond and Trotman since the Swindon game to add to the signings of Harding, Lambert, Mellis and Murty so clearly I suggest Pardew is fully aware of our problems and is trying to sort them out within a very limited time scale. Sorry to use cliches but Rome truly was not built in a day and even after the last 2 results and reading this thread ( which is actually downbeat even for this forum ) I'm still happier now than I was a few months back. 6 signings in 5 weeks is no mean effort and good players at that.We clearly need more width in the team and especially to provide the service for Lambert but that sort of problem takes time to sort out and that is one thing Pardew has not had. Edit Oh and in many ways you could think that keeping Davis was effectively a new signing as I was certain he was going to leave, I wonder who/what made him change his mind ?
  14. It's fine criticising the England team but when you look for alternatives especially in the batting who really would have been a better option than those selected ? No coincidence that the names being bandied around included Ramprakash and Trescothick. If Trescothick had the right mind set he would still be a regular in the team, sadly he hasn't though being a top sportsman does not preclude you from suffering from stress/mental problems. Of course Thedelldays is right about KP and whatever you think of his attititude/arrogance only Strauss comes close to being in the same league as a batsman. It's been a problem for years and again no coincidence that we often pick wicket keepers as much for their batting as their wicket keeping ability. I agree with Hatch that 2 spinners might have been a good option ( Rashid took 5 for Yorks again today and is certainly one for the future) but I'm hoping that Harmison might just repay the faith of the selectors.
  15. Tahir already has 2-11 so it would seem obvious he is the key to us winning this. Weather forecast is for a few showers but I reckon as long as not too much time is lost we can get a much needed win from this.
  16. Must be an absolute belter of a pitch so I guess now we'll be looking at 600+. Gosh our batting is so inconsistent !
  17. I think this shows how good Carberry has been though for sure we know that already ! I imagine Benham will come in though not sure if Crawley is fit ? http://www.rosebowlplc.com/news/hampshire-quarter-feature-in-most-valuable-player/
  18. Indeed just the sort of day we needed save of course for the injury to Carberry. Good news though is we probably will not need him to bat further in this match so it could be worse. Would be nice to get to around 500 and then the pressure is on Notts. At Headingley Lancs only scored 226-7 off 100 overs v Yorks, when I saw the score I was sure there must have been a delay of some sort due to the low score.
  19. 2-0.Another deflection ! Should be game/tie over now.
  20. 1-0 Arsenal. Lucky deflection off Gallas to be fair but Arsenal won't be complaining!
  21. 0-0 after a somewhat dull 1st 30 minutes.
  22. No surprise to see Tremlett dropped and at least Cork should strenthen the batting a little. I would imagine Griffiths will keep his place as he bowled well v Yorks. At least Notts will be missing Broad, Swann and Sidebottom which makes things slighty easier.
  23. Oh what a bugger, just realised I think RUK is only available on free view at certain times ( till 4pm today I think). Is that a general thing now Setanta are no more Don't really want to fork out even more money, at least CH4 have got the first 4 races. According to the RUK site its £20 pm, I used to get Setanta for £9.99 inc. RUK, what a rip off.
  24. I'm pretty certain I'm going to omit Onions, Collingwood and Clark ( who may well not play) but not sure who to bring in, maybe Lee if he plays plus 2 wild cards who might be likely to either succeed or fail spectacularly !
  25. He definitely won't be in my Fantasy League team for the really important showdown !
