  1. Adkins has done great for Saints but we really do seem to have a problem getting transfers over the line. I don't know if that is because NC is a pain in the arse to deal with or NA lacks the personality to enthuse the potential signings. Either way we are about to find out....
  2. I'll dig one out and drop it in to him.....
  3. Now there's something to strive for...
  4. Remind you of someone?
  5. Huh? Have they changed the rules? Well there's another one that passed me by...
  6. Holloway is now saying good things about us - shocking! 'They're a fantastic club, they can do what they like, they played brilliantly the other night.' 'Until interest turns into an opportunity which is the club accepting any sort of a bid there's nothing in it' Must be a reason for his change of heart.....
  7. I had a Singha on Saturday and it cost about £1 and was definitely brewed in Thailand.......
  8. I would have thought spending 7m to buy Twitter was a smart move ....
  9. What a totally ridiculous article that is. We are after Cole, Foster and Cox? We have a 5m budget compared to at least 15m for the others (including Reading). Further down the article it says we are after Simon Cox of West Brom, Kenwyne Jones from Stoke, Jay Rodriguez of Burnley, Conor McAleny of Everton and Kevin Doyle from Wolves... 1 from 5 ain't bad right?
  10. Last time I saw Saints play (away) in Europe a player for the other team got injured, was stretchered off and was promptly dropped from the stretcher, breaking his leg. Anyone remember that?
  11. Thanks for taking the time to write an excellent blog. Happen to have 4 Facebook accounts (business etc) so you got 4 votes from me!
  12. Especially as they must have all bought 2 tickets...
  13. Yes - a foreigner can own a house but not the land it sits on - ou have to be a Thai National to own land. But there are other ways to have control of the land including long leases and other 'rights to occupy and use' (Usufruct). Unfortunately we get a lot of foreigners here who meet Thai girls (usually in a bar...), get be-smitten by them and then buy property in the girls name. Needless to say this often ends in disaster when the relationship fails and they lose everything because they have no rights. They could have saved a lot of problems by structuring the purchase properly but too many of them think with the wrong part of their anatomy!
  14. Well, if you are here between 12th and 16th April it is Songkran. Chiang Mai is the craziest place in the world for that period!
  15. Not read that book - I'll keep a lookout for it. Jobs for foreigners are not easy to find here. There is a quota requirement of 4 Thai employees for every foreigner, as well as high minimum salary (and tax) for foreign employees. It means I can employ 3 or 4 Thais for the same cost as one foreigner .
  16. One of the great things about living here is the low cost of property (as well as the low cost of living) . You can buy a small bungalow for about £20,000.
  17. Koh Chang is some 1,000 km from me! Too far to meet for a beer I'm sorry to say... If I ever venture that way I'll give you a shout! I've had a real estate / development business here for more than 10 years - keeps me out of mischief - well - mostly Miss my footie though - have to make do with occasional bad quality streams and Saints Player apart from my occasional visits back.
  18. I don't post very often here but have spent many years lurking from my base here in Northern Thailand. Speaking as an ex Southampton schoolboy/youth player and a many years season ticket holder before I moved to Asia I enjoy keeping in touch with what's happening back home. I've noticed a few posts from people here in Thailand including some from people in Chiang Mai which is were I have lived for the past 11 years. So who are you and where do you live? The people in Thailand are football crazy but only really know the Premiership teams. Older people here always say 'Le Tissier' when I talk about The Saints. When I first came to live here you could buy a Saints shirt at the Night Bazaar - I look forward to a return to the good old days! Would be good to meet a few fellow Saints fans sometime in Thailand...
  19. This statement didn't look quite right when you consider the number of games left, so being the sad git that I am I puched some numbers into a spreadsheet and discovered the following. Actually, Brighton and Huddersfield will go up under these circumstances. If you take the current points for all teams and add their avg points per game (over the past 8 games) for their remaining fixtures the top 6 looks as follows at the end of the season; Brighton 85.75 GD +46 Huddersfield 78 GD +12.4 Southampton 77.75 GD +49.77 P'Boro 77.5 GD +15 Bournemouth 75.4 GD +26.6 Rochdale 75.27 GD +12.98 If you use the same criteria based on the past 6 games then we still finish 3rd but with P'Boro beating us to 2nd place; Brighton 94.50 P'Boro 86.67 Southampton 86.50 Bournemouth 86.33 Rochdale 85 Huddersfield 79.67 Looks to me like if we can improve on our form for the past 6 (W4 D1 L1) or 8 games (W4 D2 L2) we could secure 2nd place so long as the others continue the same (I know - lots of if's!). "Lies, damned lies, and statistics"
  20. Hmmm - can't seem to find them on youtube... But I'm sure my memory of both goals is accurate - so important at the time but alas so few of us to remember.
  21. Sorry - for some reason the wrong post was quoted - you can work out which post I was replying to I hope :-)
  22. Far Kin Ell - lets put the youth team out shall we? This is a league game against a team that's got a few respectable results (and a few pastings). We know from last season that there are no mugs in this league and we can lose against the worst. Why would you want to make wholesale changes from the team last match? Save the changes for the cup match.
  23. We are all deluded... Who was the last player signed from a L1 team who commanded a fee anywhere near 3m? Answers on a postcard please to youmustbejoking@inyourdreams.com ... DD is right - chalk and cheese.
  24. Hmm - how much did we pay for Mr Lambert? 3m will buy a few players good enough to have a positive impact on the team we have now. We tend to wear 'pound' tinted glasses when we look at our own players. Lallana can not be compared to the likes of Bale, Wilcott etc - they were premier League players albeit young.
