I suspected that Ings didn't want to leave West Ham on their terms, and presumably foregoing bonuses and contract payouts, which might have been distinct from specifically not wanting to join Saints. West Ham were quick to leak Ings's stance / incalcitrant rejection of a move - I don't remember either Ings or Saints specifically said he'd rejected Saints. Presumably both parties are now waiting and hoping the other side cracks as the end of the window looms.

The latter appears to have a success rate of 1 (Lavia) which was seemingly Shields’ call anyway. The rest has been largely a waste of >£100m (Fernandes obviously excepted, and Charly honourably excused as we got out money back at least). So all in all not a great record from the Chuckle Brothers data so far.

On yesterday's showing, only KWP and Downes are PL standard. We've done remarkably well to not sign anyone this window who is a definite starter in their position and who improves the team. Here's hoping Fernandes and Ugochukwu are good enough to start asap (big ask for 20 year olds).

It was surprising/worrying to hear Parsons talking about how surprised he'd been by the process of transfers.
