This. I was forced to listen to it on Solent due to stupid pesky work, but on there during the game the line was "we hope the fans respect the club's wishes and don't invade the pitch". But as soon as the whistle went and the fans had run on, they were saying "how great it is to see".

Would it be sensible to briefly explain what your avatar is, in a post of say 7 words ("it's a character from League of Gentlemen"), when it's obvious that a misunderstanding has occured that is completely skewing the thread of discussion, particularly considering that you are one of the most prominent participants in the discussion? Yes, that would be sensible and would take seconds. Is there any possible reason why you wouldn't want to clear the issue up, it being quite an understandable mistake for anyone who hasn't seen the League of Gentlemen to make? Yes, you wanted to be controversial and win your own straw man argument.
