Perhaps they could have sold a couple of the high-earners in January? Oh they did try, didn't they... still, that's loyalty for yer.
-
Cos he turned the chance to be their reserve keeper?
-
Oh yes. There's already a couple of threads on Clarets Mad. Of course they went down at the same time, and they are somewhat miffed that they've been living within their means, while the cheats keep pulling down extra money.

Yep, there was a rendition on Saturday. Could hear it very well from my temporary exile in the Chapel-Itchen corner (had a Burnley-supporting mate with me, so it seemed a more sensible place).

I think he meant to say that the CVA represents £16m of the debt and it's controlled by Baker Tilly. With the £2.4m of HMRC debt, I can't see them getting out-voted. Anyway, today's events have finally pushed me to write to the FL: ---------------------------- Sirs, I write with concern at the continuing financial crisis at Portsmouth Football Club. It appears that Parachute Payments will be advanced early, yet again, to support what is clearly an insolvent and currently unsustainable business. This raises a number of questions regarding competitive and financial advantage that are of great interest to other football clubs in the Championship and to existing CVA creditors: 1) The remaining parachute payments represent the only significant source of guaranteed income that is likely to accrue to Portsmouth Football Club over the next few years. Another early advance of these will almost certainly compromise the proper servicing the 2010 CVA, none of which has yet been paid (the first payment being due in March). As one of those people affected by the 2010 CVA, I would ask how can creditors ever be assured of being paid what was agreed? 2) It appears likely that Portsmouth FC will again use company administration as a means to protect the club from winding-up procedures issued by its creditors. Should this occur, can the existing 2010 CVA creditors be assured that the FL will insist upon the complete fulfilment of the conditions of the 2010 CVA, as a condition of the club’s continued membership of the League after exiting another administration? 3) Have Portsmouth FC committed to high wage earners through the club’s ‘Quality over Quantity’ policy in the tacit knowledge that the Premier League would advance PPs to bail them out if they got into financial difficulties? 4) Is this early advancement of Parachute Payments also available to Hull City, Burnley, West Ham United, Blackpool and Birmingham City football clubs to ensure those clubs enjoy the same competitive advantage as Portsmouth in their bids for early returns to the Premier League? As a businessman, taxpayer and football supporter I’m acutely aware of the effects of football club administrations. I believe that the Football League does strive to run a fair and responsible competition. Please reassure me that my trust is not misplaced. Regards ----------------------------------------- Appealing to their sense of fair play and financial nous might get me somewhere. Not holding my breath...

Lot of decent young English players on show. Picture of him on the OS gallery. Lambert MoM for me, Lallana, Hooiveld, Richardson class. Morgan wasn't crap, in fact he bossed the midfield, very strong in the tackle, passed well. Thought Cork worked well and covered a lo of ground, but a bit lightweight in challenges. Overall excellent performance, most importantly the team looks to have belief in itself again.

FOOD AND DRINK, guys and gals. Food? You don't have to cook - can have threads about restaurants, fast food, sandwiches or chocolate bars if you want to. Drink? C'mon - I'm sure EVERYONE on here could post a few ideas on that one

What's all this b0ll0cks about 17 senior players? The only youngster I can see in their squad of 19 is Webster. Yet another massaging of the truth from the South's seediest parlour.

You bend down to tie your shoelaces and wonder what else you can do while you're down there...
-
Why not? Food and Drink has got to be as interesting as Motoring.
-
They always start off by saying that though. If the jury's hung, with no prospect of a unanimous verdict, he'll probably take a 10-2.
-
Don't believe half of it. News stirring it up. "..swerved the Ipswich pressganging" ?? FFS!!
-
Yep. Fair play, it appears he was correct.
-
It does seem strange that Cedar's website shows some very old programmes and the wording is a bit vague. Is DockerP actually correct? I haven't bought any programmes this season - can someone check and report? Looking at Bishop's website, they do seem to be a very big supplier to Premiership clubs - Chelsea and Arsenal for instance. So wouldn't be surprising if they've undercut Cedar.

http://www.cedar.uk.com/portfolio.php This myth was exposed a couple of pages ago.

That's exactly what he'll do. I served on a jury in a fraud case, albeit not in the same league as this moneywise, and the judge really did set out the facts and stripped it all down to the basics, somewhat belittling both Counsels' theatrics. On another note, Harry's little tantrum at the policeman won't have done himself any favours with the Jury.

Anything yet?

So will the FL now act in the face of the DCFSBs gaining a competitive advantage by being allowed to defer paying their bills when they fall due? WILL THEY FU CK!! How can an MP stand up in the House of Commons to defend and justify a company evading tax????? Corrupt, the whole lot of 'em. I'm sure it's no coincidence that Cameron speaks in support of a city with two Conservative MPs against a city with two Labour MPs.

The Government CAN override the decision - if they really want to... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/government-is-caught-misleading-voters-over-bonuses-6294100.html?origin=internalSearch More pressure on Hester and the Government: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/rbs-chairman-declines-14m-bonus-6296025.html

They may match now, but if Lumpitt gets an advance to pay the wages for the next few months, they could be £2-£3m short.
-
Is it though? Lumpitt seems to think he needs to draw down some of the PPs to keep the club going for the next few months.
-
Pretty much nails it, although I think a bit harsh on Martin.
-
Brilliant! LOL'd
-
Pretty much covers things. We were very lightweight in midfield, wanting too much time on the ball, Morgan in particular. Really miss Chappers' energy and fight. Think SDR could bring the same, but he's not getting games to build an understanding with the other players. Holmes looked good in glimpses and also needs games. Having said all that, we did have some very good chances that we totally blew. Cork really needs to learn how to shoot and Connolly should've done a lot better with a couple. Biggest worry is Jos' injury - who covers now?

Sorry, I didn't make my point very clear. If the £10.8m is considered as a PFC debt and it minimises the HMRC percentage of the total debt, does this make it more attractive for AA/Chanrai to put the club into administration, thereby avoiding the WUP, in the knowledge that they can push through another CVA in their favour?
