  1. To be fair, Navy procurement has been a shambles for the past 40 years.
  2. Professional job well done. Billy Whizz came out of the shadows when Rickie came off and showed what he can do. Looked as if he'd shed some weight as well. SDR had a good game, had one or two bad touches, but mostly neat - I'm obviously not watching the same game as some as I thought it was Chappers' first touch that was poor when he came on. Lallana played best after they switched to the diamond and really started to make things happen. Only real disappointment for me was Butterfield, as his crossing was unusually wayward. Thought Cork had one of his best games for us. Another great set of results today too (bar Reading).
  3. The thing is that you have about half your fans in one large end stand that is shaped like a loudspeaker horn. I was in the middle of the west stand at Chelsea for the skates' FA cup tie back in January. Now Stamford Bridge is one of the most soulless, quiet grounds I've been to. All the P*mpey fans were at one end, but you could hardly hear them. Loud? You're 'avin' a larf.
  4. In the interests of clarity, my opinions concern those journos I know - and I have known more than a few. I also know that there are genuine hardworking types with decent moral compasses working in journalism. Regrettably, in my experience they are in the minority and do not thrive.
  5. There, I've corrected it for you. You're welcome. **Eagle-eyed forum readers may spot the slightly fabricated statement in this post.
  6. Most journos are lazy, want everything easy and on a plate and don't want to work too hard for their story. That's why they find us difficult.
  7. wetsham 1-1, yay!
  8. SDR on for Guly?
  9. So the male nun is helping Posh anyway
  10. Thanks M. I might take another look at the Playbook.
  11. Something of a theme here. 900 is it for Saints? P'raps they don't like seeing their team get reamed...
  12. Okay I'm sold!
  13. Thanks for your input everyone. Couple of things coming out of your responses that I've picked up on. Communications seems a big thing I guess, particularly if you're into social media/networking, IM, or video phoning. Whilst I understand that this may appeal at a certain level, I've found great reluctance to use these seriously for business, so not any advantage over what I can do with my phone. Note-taking would be useful - have used similar on my smartphone. However the leisure-type activities are all things that I would generally do in a more relaxed environment where I have access to better tools for each activity, i.e. PC, TV, Kindle, etc. So will a tablet really change the way you do everything, or simply be a convenient way to browse the web? Interesting comment regarding portability. The larger devices (iPad, Galaxy Tab 10.1) aren't particularly comfortable to use when mobile. I ended up cradling them in my arm, to use the touchscreen and it felt clumsy. The smaller 7"-9" devices can be held in one hand, but of course the screen size is compromised. I know I'm playing Devil's Advocate a bit, but if I'm going to fork out £500 or so, I need to be able to justify it to myself. So all opinions appreciated!
  14. Firstly, this is not about which tablet is best, so no Android/iPad/Playbook comparisons please. Having tried them all, to me they all do similar things with varying degrees of success. The question is more about the concept. I was prompted to pose this question after watching one of those new BT ads - the one with the girl sharing the flat with two lads and the nerdy one takes her to the local Wi-Fi hotspot so that she can do her Uni work. She's using a tablet that seems to be showing a video of sheep wandering around a field! WTF? I've been trying to convince myself that they are more than simply cool planks for web browsing, but can't find any justification for using them to do serious work or even serious leisure activities. They seem to be 'Jacks-of all-trades, Masters-of-none'. If I want to do screen work, they're too small. Not powerful enough for serious work. I couldn't tap-type on a hard screen for too long and if I want to watch a movie or listen to music, it's the last device I'd choose. Yes they're mobile, but if I need to do a quick email, my phone's good enough. Anything more and I can open up my laptop for a proper, quicker job. So, are they essential pieces of technology for the workplace and home? Or simply 'nice to have' jewellery to tote at your local?
  15. I think the headline should read "We washed £12m through the club in 5 months" (am I allowed to say that?). To be fair though, a new set of cones and paying off the back rent on the containers works out quite a lot dosh. Then of course there's the cost of the hazardous waste to dispose of (fat in the pipes).
  16. Rickie 'Three Goals'. Bunch of to$$ers...
  17. That's fine, but why do Microsoft assume most PC users are morons? Generally users are far more savvy than they were 15-20 years ago, yet they want to dumb things down. Surely they learned the lesson with Vista when W7 was introduced. Why not have the default setting as being open and usable, instead of being closed and controlled. If people want that environment, they can always buy a mac.
  18. This thread is yet another reason for a Food and Drink section to the forum...
  19. Firstly, get one of these: Add in this order: 1 egg, 2 oz plain flour, 1/4 pint cold milk, salt & pepper. Close it up and give it a few shakes. Pour into pre-heated and oiled baking tray. 15 minutes in v hot oven gives you this: Champion! (Me granny was from Yorkshire. Mind, she didn't have tupperware then. )
  20. How about some 70s nostalgia: When will we see you again? When will we share / precious moments? Will we have to wait / forever? Will you have to suffer / and cry the whole years through? When will we see you again? Will you still sell / lucky heather? You've had your time / on the spend Now this is our club winning / and this is your end. We won't be seeing you again. (Nod to the Three Degrees)
