It was going toward goal from Lambert but the Stoke defender touched it past his own keeper. But it was on target, so surely a Lambert goal?

Whew. They were through then! Luckily they made bad choices. Good old end-to-end game!

£7m on a player we left on the bench today when the game needed changing was a bit odd. We need another striker though, that is good enough to put it in the net at this level.

So far he's been awful. Can't seem to pass to his own players being the main problem. Hopefully he'll adapt though .. quickly!

Fulham and Stoke away then Arsenal at home. Hard to see us getting any points from those games.....

It is going to be a tough couple of months. No real threat up front if Lambert isn't hitting them in. Ramirez isn't working out as good as we had hoped (so far) and we resorted to throwing on reserve players, with little real match experience to change the game. Our lack of depth and quality is being shown up again. Sunderland were absolutely terrible, but we were much worse.

Ramirez is utterly utterly awful today. Worse performance by any player this season.

More shots on target in injury time than before.

Well, perhaps the next game... we need another unexpected result now.

Not sure about our tactics today really. Bit strange. We've not really got into the second half and we've been throwing on reserve players to try and change the game.

Ramirez has been awful. Still adapting to the Premier league I guess.

I think we've just lacked variety this game. That's what Lallana brings. Switching the play etc.

We look a bit 1 dimensional. All down one side. Need to spread the play more so hopefully that's what De Ridder and Davis can bring.

Mayuka has energy but needs more game time. Disappointing to be 1-0 down at half time but that's the Premiership. Punished for mistakes.

We've had lots of lovely possession but nothing much to show for it. Must start testing the keeper in the second half.

Funny that Dalglish felt he wasn't good enough and now looks like he's heading back there.

Seemed to do okay today. Okay he should have scored but he looked lively enough. Certainly doesn't warrant the booing.
