  1. How do we know the extent of a player's injury until we have him in for a medical? And we can't do a medical until we've had a bid accepted! Owen Hargreaves has signed for Man ****ty, would you have done that knowing his past injury record? How do we know a player doesn't want to sign for us until we talk to him? And we can't talk to him until we've had a bid accepted!
  2. Two posts above yours
  3. You really ought to learn to read properly, not skim read...
  4. We didn't want him for some reason, that'd down to NA, maybe he didn't click with NA, who knows. Is bizarre nontheless Wanted information that we weren't prepared to give him and he threw his toys out of his pram, he could have asked his agent for the information He failed the medical or we weren't prepared to take a risk on his dodgy ankle NA again rejected him after trying to dicuss terms, maybe he wanted too mch money, maybe he wanted to be the top boy, whatever NA didn't want him, he's the manager We're not allowed to talk to a player until the the clubs have agreed terms, once Burnley accepted our bid they informed the player, he siad he didn't want to come, simples. Not keeping my head in the sand but I can see the bigger picture. The club don't want to bankrupt themselves with stupid wages and Nigel doens't want to upset the balance of the squad by signing a load of "egos" and by paying larger wages.
  5. Are you talking about SWP or Punch? Nothing on t'interweb about Punch going anywhere! Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
  6. A free kick for obstruction. One has to call using one's name I believe Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
  7. Who ahve we signed now then??
  8. and I corrected the misspelling of pedant too
  9. Actually Fonte is protuguese and his surname is pronounced Font (without the 'e'), so it would be Font and Fonts
  10. Hmm, what i remember the Platform Tavern's b'fast used to look better than that, more variety as well Now I've made myself hungry for a Tavern breakfast, must make a trip there again sometime soon...
  11. The truckers cafe next to the Platform Tavern used to do a mean fry up, I know they've actaully been taken over by the Platform Tavern now so I don't know whath their dare is currently ike
  12. Or better still use Google Chrome FWIW I don't think it's an underpowered server problem, I think it's more likely to be a network problem, or moreover a network contention issues. That is 500 people all trying to get the data through the network is going to cause bottlenecks, it's like you all trying to queue up to go into Primark on sales day, if they only have one or two doors open there's going to be queues. If they open 20 doors the queues are likely to be a lot less although not totally eliminated. So, I'm guessing that the old server didn't have many NICs (doors) but the new one does, hence there should be less contention for network resources.
  13. I was trying to get text strike through working on my post but couldn't, of course the phrase "fight for his place" really means "earn his inflated wages getting splinters in his bum"
  14. It's in the original Punch thread, he wants to stay at QPR and fight for his place!!
  15. Gorkss doesn't want to come here (allegedly), you can't force a player to go somewhere he doesn't want to go, we've left the 19th centruy behind
  16. If it's a direct debit then you have the direct debit guarentee to fall back on. Phone your bank, they'll refund the DD I should imagine. Also cancel the DD toute de bloody suite.
  17. Umm, asn't he on loan at Blackpool last season, a Premier League club loaning from a League 1 club??
  18. Just had some of his wine gums, they were lovely..
  19. The General was used for the pre-season player checkups, by us and another team IIRC, so why not for transfer medicals...
  20. because he's carp we couldn't afford his wage demands because, as Sven said, he won't drop down to the NPC because he's carp
  21. And that £20m is small change in comparison to the £300m deal City have got from their owner's brother's company!! (allegedly)
  22. Sorry Florida but you have missed the point completely, your long rant was meaningless in this context, although well constructed. The current argument is about *REALTIME* updates provided by the media, not about after the match images and report. The clubs feel that the media shouldn't be able to provide detailed realtime updates as this is a service (usually subscription) that they provide for their fans, think twitter feeds, facebook updates, the current social media de jour updates etc. You could probably point to radi ocommentary etc but I guess this is a service that BBC have to pay for.
  23. Some/Most clubs have subscription services for realtime updates for their fans, the press services are free, the clubs see it as the press taking away one of their (potential) revenue streams.
  24. Was on holiday in Agadir, Morocco at the height of the Pinnacle fiasco. Met an older lady Saints supporter who had seen me around the pool wearing my shirts, we spent a good while discussing the merits of takeovers and Crouch and Lowe.
  25. I remember 5/6 seasons ago, after Man U had won the title, they failed to strengthen much during the close season. In fact they lost a few "big" players. They were derided by the pundits who said they'd be lukcy to get 4th as the other big teams had strengthened. Utd then went on to storm the P/L that season!
