When a ball is played back to a keeper he has 3 options. Launch it long If under pressure put it out of play as far down the pitch as possible Not under pressure play a good pass out to a defender and retain possesion. By good I mean on the floor, not bouncing two feet in front of him while he's being closed down by the oppositions quickest/trickiest player. All game Gazza had cleared back passes long, some we lost some we won, but the immediate danger was cleared. Why oh why he chose to chip that ball out to Maya only he knows. You can argue all day whether or not the ball should have gone back to him in the first place but the fact is it did and he made a poor poor decision.

Re-read the comments you posted. It says he 'would like to get to', not 'we are in'. Given that we are ahead in the 5 year promotion plan its fair to expect we are also ahead of ourselves in our financial forecasts. Like others have pointed out on the original thread its perfectly normal business practice to release cash by taking a tax efficent loan rather than blowing your capital. THis is the real problem for me. Its all very well saying he will come good, give him time etc etc, but how much time do we have? I'm certainly not writing the guy off after two games and he clearly has a good pedigree, but from what I've seen so far he's no better than Kelvin. As we've got three or four players on the fringes of coming into the team perhaps Mr Reed etc should earn some of their wages and arrange a few more U18 games to get these guys upto sharpness.

I really don't get this whole we hate Guly thing. If you watch him, he's actually a very bloody good footballer, first touch occasionally lets him down but played in the correct position he generally does a decent enough job.

Was. Bottlegate aside, from what I've seen of him so far he looks like a shakier version of Bart v Blackpool. Disaster waiting to happen.

Don't worry about distance, that will come with practice. Far better to keep the ball in play and take 1 or 2 extra shots to the green than smashing it 300 yards and ending up in the next county.
