  1. Had to laugh when the Northam stared to sing 'Markus give us a wave'. and you could see that he was totally oblivious to what was happening, despite the people sat in front of him trying to let him know. A lesson in football fan culture is needed I think! Also anyone who comes up with a song that fits Nicola Cortese in desreves a free season ticket.
  2. No, I did too.
  3. He's been doing a fair bit of coaching lately, with Totton and Eling I think. Quite often see him in Morrisons in Totton.
  4. I wasn't going to rely to any more of your posts but this one I will Wrong. Before I start this post I would like it known that I do not display, nor do I intend to display, one of these stickers. Now, onto the point. It has nothing to do with accents. It is to do with pepole who cannot or will not use English to converse with their passengers, and then due to their language difficulties, make the journey difficult or even unpleasant for the passenger by not knowing where they are going, or not being able to understand where the passenger wants to go. It is affecting the trade as the public, who are already cutting back on unnecceasary spending, are becoming even more reluctant to use taxis due to bad experiences with these drivers. Who can blame the guys for trying to protect their livlihoods? Look at it from another point of view NC, imagine you are just off a cruise ship, first time in Southampton, and you get into a cab. You want to go to the airport. Would it be unreasonable of you to expect the driver to a: know where the airport is, and b: be able to understand you when you ask to be taken there?
  5. It will save on the cost of baby wipes for a few years;) Congrats Mum and Dad, and welcome to the Saints family Jessica:cool:
  6. From my experience, yes it is.
  7. Why is it no-one gets up in arms when you get one of those supermarket adverts showing a competitors prices in comparison to theirs? All they are doing is trying to gain a competetive advantage by showing up an area where they believe they can tempt a customer to use them. Is this not exactly what a taxi driver who puts up one of these stickers is doing? Trying to gain the custom of a public who are perhaps fed up of recieving what they may think is a below standard service?
  8. Going back a fair few years but I went to the Arrows factory open day the season Damon HIll joined them and got to sit in one of the cars. I'm 6'4 as well but I got in OK, although I don't remember any pedals being fitted so thats probably why. I remember it was a really comfortable postition, almost like laying in the bath with your feet on the taps, although my knees were jammed together so tightit nearly cut off circulation! I'm guessing the driving position hasn't changed hugely with time? I always thought the idea was to get the drivers weight as low as possible?
  9. Its been argued that taxi's should be fitted with tacho's. Not really a problem though IMO. Lorry/coach drivers are allowed to drive for 4 hours then must take a 45 min break I think, and are limited to 10 hours a day driving (not 100% sure if anyone knows better please correct me). If I do a 15 hour shift in my cab and I don't do any long airport runs I reckon I will only be driving for a maximum of about 4 hours, maybe 6 if its a busy night.
  10. Lol! I probably could have put it better...
  11. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1954764,00.html "We got up here just after half nine last night. It's been great fun, we've been playing football in the car park, the security guards have brought us all teas and coffees, they have been fantastic. We camped out all night in our sleeping bags just to be able to make sure that we got our tickets. "We just want to say a big thank you to the Chairman, fair play to him he came out here and saw us all first thing at 6.30am, shook our hands and thanked us for being here and made sure that we were being looked after." Probably not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but still a nice touch I thought. Would the previous chairman have done anything similar? He would probably have had them kicked off the car park for trespass;)
  12. Absolutely brilliant MB, hope you don't mind but I 've borrowed that for me facebook pic:D
  13. Don't hold back mate, say what you think...
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8495353.stm Now confirmed on SSN. Does he realise he won't get paid? How the hell can the PL allow this?
  15. So because I think its not too much to ask to expect someone in a public service environment to speak a good level of the language spoken by the majority (notice I said majority, not all)of customers I am a racist. Ok, if you say so... Carry on trolling, this is the last response I will be giving to you NC.
  16. All Hackney and PH drivers have to take the same top test. When I did mine years ago I had to sit down with the licensing officer who fired questions at me for half an hour about the city and routes etc, very much like the London 'knowledge' but not as complicated. Nowadays it is all done on computer with multiple choice answers, hence the amount of drivers getting licensed who are clearly not up to the required standard that the average member of the public would reasonably expect from a public service provider IMO
  17. So if a Polish driver had a sign saying Polish speaking driver would that be racist? What if a Indian driver had a sign saying English speaking driver (and yes, I do know of one or two), is that racist? Why is it racist for an English driver to let potential customers know about the service they can expect to be offered?
  18. Garmin Nuvi reconitioned £60 on Amazon,
  19. Just moving them to another corner won't work. All that will happen is the guys who go in the northam now will also move, to be close to the away fans, an we will be back to where we starte, just at opposite ends! To my min they shoul leave it as it is an re-open the Itchen corner, or if they must move them move them further round one of the Northam corners so the whole Northam an Chapel are Saints.
  20. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4886127.Council_crack_down_on__English_speaking__taxi_stickers/ YOu honestly couldn't make it up.
  21. What do I win?\\:D/ Of course it could also be a bloody good bit of marketing by NC. I don't know what a shirt sponsorship deal is worth to a L1 team, but he has basically just guaranteed about 20k shirts will be sold.
  22. Just playing devils advocate here, but could it be a case of we can't find a new sponsor in the current climate? It sounds like a fantastic gesture, and I really hope it is just that, but why would a business throw away money?
  23. Another game and another two goals at the Chapel end, and a clean sheet at the Northam. The Chapel is clearly the place to be, with the superb support sucking the ball into the net. Sorry Northam, you've had your day, time to hand over the mantle to the nippers in the family section. Leave the seating as it is Mr Cortese, it clearly benefits the team;)
  24. I think it was said that when we were in the championship a gate of around 19000 was the break even point, so considering we are now probably spending less on operating costs and are getting better gates we should be turning a profit.
