PARDEW ON INJURIES Connor Wickham suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the 5-4 defeat to Swansea last weekend, to add to the growing list of injuries at Palace...with Pape Souare admitting he is not sure he will play football again. There's more bad news around Steve Mandanda too... "We've got a couple of problems in the squad. Connor's is a massive problem for us. "The injury Pape's had is so unique to football. There aren't many situations where someone in the game has had this. "That makes it tough to put a time on the recovery. He's in great spirits, has a positive personality. We love Pape. "Steve Mandanda's going to have an operation on his knee this week. We think he's out for 6 weeks. His knee locked up in training."

He didn't. Even in an interview after he said something like "another couple of years". Who knows if we will even see that extra year. When he signed the 6 year deal, I just thought we at LEAST get him for this season. Which I'm fine with. I love watching him defend.

So far, it's been about goals so far hasn't it? Not scored enough & some of the worst moments from this season: Inter Away / Prague Away / Hull Away have been about not taking chances. There is light at the end of tunnel though. Boufal getting fitter. Tadic still to return. Sims a live-wire from the bench. Will be interesting to see what January brings in terms of the window & our striker line-up.

This is spot on. Virgil could probably be the top scorer in the Europa if he scored the chances he's had from JWP's delivery.

Is he far away from a return?

I think our 1st team is weaker than last season, but our squad is stronger overall.

I reckon if we are to keep Van Dijk for another year, we might have to "do a Spurs/Bale" and keep topping it up at the end of the season.

Interesting to see Wimmer linked. Pretty sure the price quoted isn't right as Levy normally gets top dollar. But Wimmer fits our profile. Left footed too.

Keep on bumping those threads. I expected him to have done something stupid, so was interested to see that he has (hopefully) sorted himself out. Time will tell.

I'm not too worried about player freshness between Palace & HBS. Saturday to Thursday is enough recovery time. Thursday to Sunday (HBS to Boro) is when you'd have to rotate 7 or 8 players again.

Clasie has largely disappointed me, but the one thing about the systems we play: 442 diamond / 433 / 451, is that they all play with 3 central midfielders, so he will always get a chance to play & impress with Claude's rotation policy. He took that chance last night. Well done to him. Hope for more in the future
