& a goalkeeper, perhaps? Would assume the attacker is a No.10 type, or possibly left winger. I would have thought Cedric's performances at the Euro's meant that he would likely be our 1st choice right back for this season?

Isgrove & McQueen normally tend to start off great, and then dip - Will be interesting to see if they can maintain their form this year.

The thing with signing Charlie when did was that it completely strengthened us and gave us yet another tool in the toolbox as we didn't really have a "fox in the box". It gave us 4 strikers of 4 different styles. We've now lost a specific sort of striker & one that (with Rickie) has almost been the DNA of our resurgence.

Lyall Thomas @SkySportsLyall Some interesting quotes from Sam Allardyce on the current transfer market that explains difficulty that all Prem clubs are going through... Lyall Thomas @SkySportsLyall "Problem is that everybody thinks the money makes things easier, but it’s actually made things more difficult, because we all have same.... Lyall Thomas @SkySportsLyall "...money and everybody else has got so much more expensive. The same player last year that cost £10m will now cost £20m, and the £20m..." Lyall Thomas @SkySportsLyall "...one will now cost £35m or £40m, and the £40m one now costs £60m or £80m. We're working as shrewdly as poss to get best players we can."

Think you're right. I think it's unlikely we'll get 2 in, but you could argue we still need an left-winger & a No.10. Possibly just the one if they are versatile. Kostic or Tello, PLUS Boufal

Injured, I believe. Not sure about Gardos, but on the OS, Re: Yoshida

If Jay gets promoted to striker, who covers Tadic on the left flank?

With some senior players missing, there are quite a few gaps around for the U21's to make an impression. I'm quite interested to see if Alfie Jones can make the step up.

The Echo seem hell-bent on us getting a right-back in.

This deal is 2nd only to the Steven Davis deal, which just seemed to magically happen on a random Friday night.

Aha! - There it is! - An ITK finally debunking Mr Schitt.

This is true! I'm not sure how I never realised this, but Puel was Gueye's coach @ Lille, before he joined Villa.
-
With a bit of Ruud Van Nistelrooy thrown into the gene pool mix too.
-
I like him too - he's played an enormous role in our rise. It's a risky statement to make though! At least it answers the question of whether we will replace Vic like-for-like though! Really looking forward to seeing this kid play.

SSN with quotes from Les Reed saying we have the best pool of midfielders to select from in the premier league (?!) Did I hear that right?

GUEYE GONE? Marseille have entered into talks with Aston Villa over midfielder Idrissa Gueye, having triggered his £7.1million release clause. He moved to Villa last summer after spending five years with Lille, however, following Villa's relegation to Championship, he is now keen on returning to France.

West Ham striker roulette!
-
The West Ham hierarchy want people to know that they paid a very large loan fee for him. (With an option to buy).

This is how you do a transfer isn't it? Hear about it Sunday. Signs on a Monday. Done.

BACCA UPDATE West Ham will meet with Carlos Bacca's representatives this week to discuss personal terms over a club record move to the Olympic Stadium, according to Sky sources. The Hammers have activated the £26m release clause in the forward's current contract at AC Milan and will now hope to persuade him to join the club. If terms can be agreed, Bacca would become Slaven Bilic's sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Gokhan Tore, Sofiane Feghouli, Toni Martinez, Havard Nordtveit and Domingos Quina.

I'll miss Graziano. I'll only ever have fond memories. That overhead vs QPR, his chested lay-off to Davis @ Stamford Bridge. His 30 yarder vs Stoke. Fantastic stuff. Lets face it, coming in to replace Rickie was not an easy job and he did a very good job. I'll miss him. Still surprised we aren't lining up a replacement, but what do I know?!
