  1. Both Poch and Koeman were only allowed to leave after compensation was paid.
  2. I wouldn't know. This article makes it clear Watford wouldn't let him go. I guess as he was under contract Everton would have to pay compensation of some sort maybe they weren't prepared to. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/marco-silva-sacked-by-watford-leicester-defeat-blame-everton-next-manager-odds-a8170476.html
  3. I don't think there are many saying that most of us realise the options are extremely limited. The point is why did the club get itself into a position where our only viable option is Mark frigging Hughes? If we had given him the job last summer the reaction from most saints fans would been pretty negative so I can understand why some people aren't exactly jumping for joy, even if they need to temper that with the reality of the situation, it's not an appointment that brings any excitement..
  4. Which will last as long as it takes for the opposition to score past our error prone CBs..
  5. **** that's a left field appointment does Phil have any PL experience.
  6. I'm sure I read that Lambert had improved their defensive stats since coming in they were leaking goals like a sieve early season. I think it was Bilic on TV recently that said that the first thing new managers do when coming into relegation threatened clubs is work on the defence and making a team harder to beat. I agree out of what is available Hughes is probably our best option I'm just ****ed the club have put themselves in a position where that is the case.
  7. So you are saying he has been in the frame for months then? And the club just thought 8 games to go was the perfect time to bring him in. Let's face it everyone had pretty much come to the conclusion that MoPe was seeing out the season.
  8. I imagine he concluded it went wrong becuase we didn't have a Peter crouch to throw on in the second half. I'm not a massive fan of Hughes I can see in our position choices are extremely limited but it beggars belief that club have put themselves in a position where our only hope is employ a guy sacked a few months ago because he was going to get Stoke relegated.
  9. I don't argue he might be the best choice right now by virtue of the fact their aren't really any other choices given the current mess the club are in. But where does this idea come from that he can organise this squad and will go around kicking egos up the arse when he couldn't do it with a Stoke squad only a few months ago?
  10. Well I think when you have Moyes as your manager, fighting relegation, having had your beloved stadium sold from under you while being run by a couple of porn barons you have have the right to crow at other teams misfortune....
  11. I think that's more your hope than any rationale of reality. Stoke certainly weren't playing like that this season and our CBs are going to have improve massively to make us defensively organized. Doesn't matter who comes in its a big ask to save us now hoping for a new manager bounce but I'm not convinced we will get it.
  12. Why can we be fairly sure he has had his eye on us for a while? For all we know he has spent the last couple in months playing golf and taking up knitting.
  13. Our best possible chance of staying up was last December and January HTBH. We already missed that boat...
  14. Probably feels he should be starting ahead of Bertrand instead of on loan...
  15. A lot of those draws would be wins if we could keep a clean sheets though....
  16. Lets face it any manager available to us right now has probably been sacked and left a club in a shambles recently with the exception of Silva who was sacked for being a bit of a **** and a snake. Its not like we are going to have our pick of top managers right now.
  17. Somehow who ever the new manager is has to shore up a defence you could drive a bus through these days. Everyone keeps going on about our attacking football but defensively we have been shocking this season we can't keep a clean sheet is probably no surprise that our demise seems to directly correlate to a general downgrading of our CBs.
  18. Do people actually believe all that PR crap from the club then?
  19. I think Silva has proved he isn't a long term type of guy he wanted to ditch Watford for Everton after half a season... Though TBF the average PL manager lasts about 1.3 years so long term doesn't really matter.
  20. You are right. Though according to press reports at the time he deliberately stopped trying because he was sulking about not being allowed to go to Everton and because of Watford's transfer policy. He pretty much forced them to sack him.
  21. Which is one of the reasons he is supposed to have left Watford apparently he didn't get input on signings he wanted which annoyed him.
  22. Nah lower middle table sides are always prepared to bringing in managers like him to save their season. There are a number of PL experienced but average managers that just get recycled among the lower part of the PL.
  23. If it is Silva I imagine it will be a short term deal and then reassess in the summer. He dropped Hull like a hot brick once they were relegated he has no interest in managing in the championship. I still think Silva will be off to Everton in the summer and BFS will be given the old heave ho.
  24. The weird thing is the idea that club are searching for a long term replacement when we seem to be in such a **** poor position to recruit. I imagine that anyone thinking of taking the job is well aware that with only eight games to save us they could well be managing us in the Championship next season not sure Hughes, Silva or Rodgers ego would cope with that.
  25. Gets his head turned easily by flattery from Merseyside which makes him an ideal Southampton employee....
