Yep looks poor again tonight as does JWP, Long and Targett

I have to say sitting here at SMS we aren't looking much different from last season style wise. A bit more pressing (not very effectively it has to be said) than under Puel but mostly its get the ball out wide and bang in a cross to a lone saints player who actually bothered to get into the box.

I wonder if VVD is starting to wonder if his agent knows what he is doing? I guess if he ends up at pool by the end of the window he'll be happy enough but if all this backfires and he is still at Southampton in the awkward position of having to back track I reckon his agent might be getting the chop .
-
It's a pre-season friendly doubt anyone is expecting much of an atmosphere. I'm going more because I want to see how MoPe has changed things and got us playing first hand rather than through a constantly freezing live stream.
-
fair point TBH though I don't think Dodd has any inside knowledge relating to saints these days.
-
yeah hopefully not like last time he was on when he asked why VVD would want go Liverpool when they haven't got Champions league football...

on the proviso that PSG pay the full 198million up front in one go Neymar: Paris St-Germain must pay £198m 'in full' to sign Barcelona forward http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40800757

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day
doddisalegend replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
yes I assumed clubs reluctance to sign him was because the buy back clause was going to be stupidly lowl but at double what you paid it seems like a no brainer. -
The question should be how many chances did we create as the actual ability of our forwards to get it in the net was **** poor even penalties were beyond them at the end of last season.
-
So who will be the first Saints player...
doddisalegend replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
no rules for the opposite though what if a player is fouled should have had a legitimate penalty and the ref calls it dive do the robbed team get a retrospective penalty... -
They might seeing as the club allegedly value him at £70 million
-
I said we would appear desperate if we made a public statement that the situation is beyond salvageable...petal
-
Ha calm down flower. I was replying to a poster that suggested the club make a public statement about the VVD situation that we are looking to sell because the situation has become unrecoverable. I was merely pointing out that would weaken the clubs bargaining position ....but you carry on having a hissy .
-
Lovern is the perfect example of a CB made to look better than he was by a good midfield screen.
-
And reduce his value as no club will pay our asking price when we are appearing so desperate to get rid.
-
Really worse than 1st season in the PL Fonte and Jos the Boss I don't think so...
-
It would still have happened if Koeman stayed players have proved time and again that when it comes to it the pay packet is the most important thing managers, league position, ambition and European football are all just soundbites that come way behind getting more cash.
-
Well if we get in a decent midfield in front of them that isn't terminal.
-
Judging from the total lack of interest from other clubs I suspect the only reason he wants Liverpool ....is because they are the only ones who actual want him rather than a desire for Klopps man meat.
-
The problem is Liverpool seem to the only club who actually want him. We can't sell to Liverpool without basically saying we are ok with tapping up and being made to look utterly stupid. Our other option is to beg someone to take him off our hands at a much reduced rate which again does us no favours. No one is going to pay our asking price this summer in light of current events because they will see us as desperate to get rid of him.
-
What message does that send out to our other and future players? That the club will cave at the slightest provocation, even if you just signed a long contract, and that it is perfectly ok for other clubs to tap up our players. At some point the club has to put its foot down and make a stand.
-
By give a crap you mean not good enough to sign for anyone better....
-
We can't get rid, as it stands, no one wants him......... or at least no one wants him enough to actually table a bid for our asking price.
-
what cards does he hold? Is really going to strike for a whole season....... I doubt it
-
That would be tricky seeing as no one has actually approached saints with a bid. The only option he seemingly has is Liverpool but due to the underhanded way they went about it they won't bid with out saints permission which saints can't give with looking utterly weak. At the moment VVD is kicking up a fuss to leave when no one is actually trying to sign him.
