You'd expect Poch to know a thing or two about CBs.
-
We are a club that has had millions of pounds of talent praised away from us in the last few seasons and in all that time no one has (at least publically) ever made a bid for him if is in such high demand why is that?
-
best thing about that was seeing JWP actually score a free kick lets hope he starts bagging a few this season.
-
****ing hell Riyad Mahrez has let himself go over the summer.
-
If Man City wanted JWP he'd be there by now especially if they were happy to give saints top dollar ( which in the current market is 50+million)
-
Do they need to get their homegrown quota up again....
-
Saints need him to...
-
why?
-
He isn't one of our "stars" and loyalty is easy to come by when no one is interested in you. If Liverpool come in with a mega £60 million bid next summer and JWP turns then down then we can applaud his loyalty.

The 2017-18 Pundits pre-season League Prediction Thread
doddisalegend replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
He's back everyone's favourite BBC pundit with his weekly match predictions starting off with a saints win no less Southampton v Swansea Both of these teams have players who obviously want to leave - Saints defender Virgil van Dijk and Swansea midfielder Sigurdsson. I think they will both get the moves they want and neither of them are likely to play - why risk them when they are probably not fully fit? In their absence, I am going for a Southampton win, but I still think Swansea will have a decent season under Paul Clement. Lawro's prediction: 2-1 Cram's prediction: 2-0 Foster's prediction: 0-0 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40745588 -
He improved last season but I don't want to see him playing on the right all he did was slow down our attacking moves most of the time. As a player he is a jack of all trades and master of none as useful squad player who can slot into a number of positions and do a job but none particularly well.

Carabao Cup - Round 2 draw - Wolves at home
doddisalegend replied to Pamplemousse's topic in The Saints
It's the cup we are going win this season against Man U in the final. Gabbi scoring the winning goal while clearly 10 yards offside but not seen by the match officials.... -
hopefully he is wasted playing as a holding midfielder. Romeu, Lemina deep with Davis playing in front would seem to be our best central midfield with the players available
-
who the **** do you think we are going to buy who is good enough to directly replace VVD?

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day

That would be the first player WHU signed this summer I'd have wanted saints to try and sign. -
Aren't they going for wrong defender? Yoshida played in three of the four games against Liverpool last season VVD only two...

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day

I'm not sure Spurs can afford him they aren't big spenders and Ryan will be expensive. Rose is only (amazing how mad the PL is when I can say only) on 65k a week apparently. I imagine Bertie will want more than that. Spurs lack of spending this summer does seem to point to them being a bit fiscally challenged with the new stadium build and having to use Wembley. I bet if they have to replace Rose it will be a young cheap, with potential, type of player. -
From what I've seen pre-season It doesn't look like our attacking play is much different from last season there is a heavy emphasis on getting out wide and crossing into the box so if that's the case we need more quality deliveries, more players trying to to get into the opposition box and more composure in front of goal than last season. Same players though so I guess it all depends on if they can up their performance levels.

It's probably not about the money though Liverpool still think of themselves and brand themselves as one of the European elite (despite the reality) selling their top players undermines that. -

He has been in the PFA PL team of the year two season in a row.. -
In the old days didn't clubs just put players surplus to requirements on a transfer list to give notice they were open to selling if anyone was interested?

So the general consensuses seems to be safely mired in mid- table (apart from 'Arry) for the season which I guess most fans probably expect as well.
