  1. Wow your attempts make Glasgow look like the equivalent of a trolling kung fu master.....
  2. I think constant high crosses into the box goes back further than last season but it's a more viable tactic when you have a Pelle or Lambert leading the line.
  3. From Chelsea I wouldn't be at all surprised Liverpool will be wasting their time and they know it
  4. Totally this. We played a couple of low cut backs from the byline that caused Swansea all sorts of problems then stopped doing that and resorted to the high hanging crosses into the box. Just like last season under Puel those crosses play right into the hands of the opposition CBs. I just don't get the point of all these high crosses when our forward line is so physically unimposing in the air playing it on the deck to feet would suit our players much more surely. The other problem with the crosses is we still aren't getting enough bodies in the box so we end up with a high cross into a box rammed with opposition players and 1 maybe 2 saints players.
  5. yeah imagine having players who make lots of chances abut don't score....
  6. Interesting comparing the stats on the bbc from last seasons opening day game with this seasons they are pretty similar Watford last season http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36994444 yesterdays games http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40835420 in both cases a lot of possession and a large number of attempts on goal.
  7. Mostly because we slowed our attacking play down long enough for Swansea to pack their area leaving our players little space to craft good chances and instead try to smash one in through a crowed area with a high chance of hitting another player.
  8. so like I said we didn't get behind them to any effect...
  9. mmm not sure about that we only managed 2 actual attempts on target (plenty off target mind) according to the stats. Quite a few long range pot shots or attempts to smash a ball through a crowded penalty box that never really looked like going in.
  10. See Palace got off to a flying start under FDB. The Homeslade forum all ready has a three page thread calling for FDB to be sacked . Dear Frank, Your team got booed off after your first game in charge. You have achieved a Palace and Premiership first. Please change your tactics or do the decent thing and resign.
  11. so as soon as the opposition replace all their defenders with blow up dolls and put a geriatric reserve keeper in goal we are going to score a bucket load
  12. Not to any great effect maybe twice that really counted and both those were low cutbacks from the by-line. Far to often we get it wide then bang a high hanging cross into a box full Swansea players and one saints player. Given that physically we are quite a small squad I just don't see how endless high crosses from out wide are playing to our strengths.
  13. yeah but Boufal was playing in behind the striker rather than on the wing I'd play him there instead of JWP.
  14. no we didn't most of our attacking play throughout the game was in front of a wall Swansea players we rarely managed to get in behind them to any effect all game.
  15. It was as accurate as a JWP free kick....
  16. New season but much the same result. The stats back up the impression, I was getting from the stands, that this was remarkably similar to last season more possession than the opposition lots of shots on goal but only two of them actually on target. We were the team on top but didn't make it count. Pressing was better than last year and did lead to a few Swansea mistakes . Attacking wise though like last season the majority of our build up play was to slow allowing Swansea to pack out their area and leaving us passing back/ forwards/sideways looking for an opening that wasn't there. Our crossing was poor two of our best chances came from low cutbacks from the byline which would be a better way for us to go than high crosses into the box. When we do cross we still aren't getting enough bodies in the box to really put the opposition under pressure. Defensively we were sound Jack, Yoshida and Cedric were all good although Swansea offered very little genuie goal threat and much sterner tests will come. All in all a ok performance but we really need to start scoring when we are on top in games.
  17. Different season same inability to take our chances......so far
  18. Davo is captain though isn't he? so will have to play.
  19. Isn't calling VVD (and offer him another 20k) what got Liverpool in trouble in the first place?
  20. Mane Liverpool's best player according the BBC I wonder how long he will be happy there before wanting a move.
  21. Depends if there is room in the team for him with Romeu and the new guy holding and Davis in front where does JWP play?
  22. Watford looking good in their opening game
  23. Dodgy defending from Liverpool 9 minutes into their first game bet they wish they had a quality CB..
  24. I guarantee the fans of three of those clubs are saying something similar about an easy 3pts playing us...especially as we are at home.
  25. that guy is such a cockwomble
