Last night's team, bar Fonte. is (slightly worryingly) our strongest line up If I was Koeman I'd send them out again and tell them to prove themselves after the last few games. We really haven't played a settled 11 a lot yet this season due to injuries, suspensions and Koeman tinkering lets just get the best 11 on the pitch and get them playing for the shirt.

It's the wording "Southampton want" "we'd like to think" it's not the same as "we will" or "We definitely will be" every club in the land "would like" to be in the CL doesn't mean they will. No denying when he is on song he is a good player. But I couldn't see Swansea selling to us at anything but a hugely inflated price. Kind of wish we had taken a punt on Georginio Wijnaldum as an attacking midfield option before the toon got in there.

I'm pretty sure when Koeman arrived last season he made a big point when he started that he didn't believe in constant game long pressing and that he didn't believe teams could keep it up all game he was pretty upfront about it. I would guess he has not addressed it because it's not how he wants to play the game.

Not on his current form we won't has been poor for a while. Completely different to Morgan who played last season like he had a point to prove, once his move to spurs was blocked, meanwhile Vic seems to be passing time until his contract runs down.

I think is has more to do with the ridiculous swings in opinion on here. If we go on a little run people start going all overboard on the quality of our players, the CL and our amazing football. As soon as we lose a few our squad are unfit journeymen not fit for the championship and every player we've bought is ****e. Some people just don't have any perspective.

Last night was ****, I am getting absolute dogs abuse from the plastic Liverpool fans at work today......but one of the big things a lot of us have complained about in the past is putting out weakened sides in the cups and resting players. Apart from Fonte we put out what is pretty much acknowledged as our best side... and we got stuffed by a team that finishes higher up than us in the league every season. I can live with that. We made the effort for the cup and came up short which far less annoying than the game against Sunderland under poch two seasons ago or even last years game against Sheffield Utd. I don't expect us to win a cup but I do want to see us try to win a cup.....makes sense to me anyway.

That wasn't aimed specifically at you just a general observation on the forum as whole every time we go through a bad patch.

We put out the strongest side available ( well I'd have had Yoshida in for Caulker) last night and rested players against city just for this game So we took the cup as seriously as we could. I have no complaints about going out when we played our best team but lost.

Point still stands though we got plaudits in the press for both games only a few weeks ago so when the poster I replied to said "we never get plaudits anymore" I guess he means for the three games we just lost........

I seem to remember plenty of plaudits when we beat Chelsea and Swansea only a few weeks ago. Three defeats in the trot is carp no denying but we were six unbeaten before that As soon as we hit a bad patch why do people suddenly appear out of the wood work claiming the whole club is going to **** and a disaster zone?

Well this is predictable. Last night was ****e we have been a bit ****e the last 3 games but then we've had ****e patches every season since we got back to the PL.
