  1. what a load of old crap could have had some fun games but that is such a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz draw.
  2. Certainly better than Tadic's corners in recent weeks. I guess the argument is weather it's worth having JWP in the team to take good corners.
  3. If the lad had come from somewhere other than our academy and was called Yakov Wardov-Prowsivich or something he wouldn't half as many fans as he does. Personally think he is technically good with a ball at his feet but he really doesn't have any outstanding features to nail down a position in the team Davis is better in the AM role (though we could do better there to), Claise, Romeu and Vic are all better DMs and Tadic is better out wide . I think he is one of those utility players who can do an OK job in a few different positions (without being really outstanding) which makes him a useful player to have in the squad IMO.
  4. Given Koeman's comments the other week it seems unlikely However, Saints boss Koeman says there is no chance that the Senegal winger, or anyone else, will be leaving when the transfer window re-opens. 'No, no, not in January,' he said. 'Already we spoke about that situation and we sell nobody in January. 'Nobody, even when they pay £100million.' of course if someone offers us £100million for Shane Long Koeman might be tempted to back track.....
  5. I was reading the Saints villa match report in the mail when I saw these lines which I thought were interesting This could be another dreary December for Southampton, who were held to a 1-1 draw here against rock-bottom Aston Villa when they really should have scored several chances. In recent seasons they have found the festive month a dismal one. Last year, they lost their first four and in each of the three years before that they won only once. It would seem December isn't a good month for saints anyone know why? Do we just get a lot of tough fixtures? Last season there was talk about some of the new players not being used to the English winter schedule but it looks like we were struggling even back when we had our British core. Looking at the up coming fixtures I can't really argue with the sentiments in the mail.
  6. No what we are lacking is someone who can finish on a regular basis we are creating chances but we are not putting many away right now. Pelle goes in fits and starts, Mane is not scoring enough probably because he is wide to much, Tadic is more of a creator than scorer, Long will chip in with half dozen a season and the clubs hopes that Jrod would just pick up were he left off hasn't worked out. We need someone who can find the back of the net regularly so that we can actually capitalise on the parts of games when we are on top.
  7. He is a decent last 20 minute sub to bring on when the other team is tiring. He is one of the few players on our bench you feel might nick a goal or change a game late on at the moment. I rather we bought another striker to push Pelle and kept long as well HTBH.
  8. Aren't they another team that does better on the road than at home?
  9. I think people attach a little to much importance to players price while there is, clearly, a correlation between price and ability it's not that clear cut. Lovern is allegedly a 20 million player and yet the two centre backs we've had since ,both better players, are nearer 12 million players. Shane long is a good example of a player the cost more than he is worth. Sometimes cheap players work sometimes expensive signings don't.
  10. It's almost like he started saying things and then thought he might have gone a bit far and backed tracked. TBH we aren't renowned for doing a lot of business in Jan so I'm not expecting much ( was it Elia and err that other bloke who didn't really play who came in on loan last Jan?) On the other hand a couple of new players might shake things up. I really feel Pelle needs some competition. Long is a good last 20 minute sub but not much more and Jrod's return probably hasn't panned out as the club had hoped. Also I'd still like to see a really good AM someone with Davis work rate, Gaston's eye for a pass and a the ability to score a few goals all rolled into one player...not asking much there?
  11. Vic would be great for Arsenal....if they buy Morgan to play along side him.
  12. That's a decent summary for me. I think the early Europa games and subsequent exit defiantly effected Ron and the team. The only thing I would add about our cup exit was at least this time we played the best team available to us (not that it did us any good) something we have been guilty of not doing in past seasons.
  13. It's got to be Arsenal's season to win it IMO, considering the other big teams form, if not this season then when? but I'd rather see Leicester win it, god knows I'd be well jealous, but anybody but the usual suspects winning it would be good.
  14. Oh yes the mid to late 40 something bloke, with a nice southern accent, whose never been North of the Watford gap and is yet a Liverpool fan. I have a few at my work place giving me dogs abuse last week bet they all go quiet on Monday though.
  15. The whole PL (bar Leicester) seems unable to find any sort of form. Unexpected results (and Chelsea losing) are becoming the norm this season ...which makes for good entertainment (and also underlies how there really are no easy games in the PL this season)
  16. Looks like Liverpool should have saved some goals from mid week. 90 minutes before Liverpool got a shot on target and Newcastle haven't had any (the goal being a deflected Skrtel own goal)... oops 2-0 to Newcastle
  17. It wouldn't for me it will keep all the plastic Liverpool fans at work quiet.
  18. I see the champions elect (well according to talk****e) are losing to Newcastle
  19. Made up for the first half which was dire. Not just the Itchen north tbf the whole of the home support just seemed nervous in the first half.
  20. I remember people getting pretty excited about Swansea and Newcastle's transfers in the summer. Chelsea's capture of Pedro and Falco was being bigged up in the media. .......it's working out well for all those teams at the moment.
  21. That's why I said desperate.
  22. Koeman was quoted a couple of weeks ago saying he turned down loans for some under 21 players because we need squad depth. I think the message is he'd use them if he gets desperate with injuries.
  23. You could see the players physically deflate when villa scored and it took them a while to get going again. They defiantly look short on confidence which isn't a surprise after three defeats on the trot.
  24. I get where you coming from the cash injection for them would surely be a benefit to them.... but as a club with only one proper rival I miss not having a proper derby match. Don't fancy Eastleigh as an alternative?
  25. I thought that was Gaston...
