Confirmed: Caulker loan cancelled; Moves on loan to Liverpool
doddisalegend replied to Maggie May's topic in The Saints
Tadic is an attacking player not blessed with defensive abilities. Caulker appears to be a defender not blessed with defensive abilities. It's a small, but rather important, difference..... -

I'm sure Ron will be devastated. Are we paying all his wages as part of the loan? Could this free up some money for an actually useful loan signing for the rest of the season? -
Yep nice to a see a consistent style runs throughout the club.....
-
18 PL goals in the worst team in the PL last season for £8 million seems like a bargain to me considering Bournemouth are shelling out £10 million for a championship striker and we paid £12 million for Long.
-
Yes, no doubt, but this article suggests man u are looking to bring in a lot of young players in a short time rather than the odd one or two each season.
-
United have instructed scouts to identify the best teenagers in the country to improve their ailing academy So basically man U want to buy a load of promising youngsters to make their academy look good....
-
You have to throw in Mane, Fonte and Victor being far below last seasons standards to imo
-
This. Mane hasn't scored since October, Tadic is afraid to shoot, Davis for all his good qualities doesn't score. Pelle and Long are to erratic. We have no goal threat as a team. We can't win games if we don't score more goals.

I agree. I think Koeman is just brutally honest about stuff which in the current climate is giving people ammo to vent their frustrations. Personally I don't think we are playing that bad if we had a clinical striker this thread probably wouldn't exist.
-
I think the club gambled heavily on Jrod coming back and picking up where he left off pre injury. If that gamble had paid off we'd probably all be a lot happier right now Unfortunately it didn't and it now looks like a bad decision by the club not to get another striker last summer.

Would going for English players who aren't up to scratch be better than going for European ones who aren't up to scratch? Or are you suggesting that being English somehow makes you a better player?
-
I see Newcastle are sniffing around Shevley at Swansea. Decent player, only 23 although his current managers comments about his attitude might make clubs think twice.
-
This ^^ Poch's record with established senior players isn't quite as good as with youngsters or players, like Lallana or Clyne, who haven't achieved much. He couldn't get much out of ego players like Osvaldo and Adebayor and big teams like Man U have plenty of those.
-
Don't under estimate confidence the whole Leicester squad are on a high right now and desperate to keep it going...ours couldn't score in a brothel or are desperately trying to engineer a dream move elsewhere.
-
I find myself not caring much. While it's nice to have one of your own playing for the club the last few seasons have shown that any youth player who is any good will drop us like a hot brick if anyone comes sniffing and if no one is interested they are probably JWP. I just want the strongest squad we can afford if the are a good academy player great if not so what? If Koeman ,who lets faces should no a thing or two about good footballers, thinks they aren't good enough I'm cool with that. Right know I'd rather see a good striker and a goal scoring AM in the team were they come from doesn't bother me to much as long as they are putting the ball in the onion bag HTBH.
-
Probably about as well as Adebayor....
-
Really looked accidental to me plus not sure how the ref spotted it.
-
It is if you're one of those numpties who thought we were on the verge of becoming part of the top 6/7 elite in English football. If only the board had made Poch stay, kept all our players (against their wishes) and we'd invested millions more we'd have kept improving our league position season after season forever.... Plus this is saint Lard who thinks back to back promotions are a failure..........
-
TBF they all seemed pretty keen to leave saints which is pretty much the problem, weather we develop players or buy them, if they turn out any good they can't wait to f uck off else where. So if we have 50% homegrown talent it will most likely be 50% made up of players no one wants (JWP) or players who can't wait to Leave (Chambers, oxo, Shaw).

Koeman has played strong sides in every cup game since he arrived. The last one against Liverpool was arguably our best 11 (worryingly) he clearly sees the cups as a chance to get some silverware.
-
Klopp clearly a poor coach...poch would have those Liverpool youngsters playing like Barca
-
Doubt it. Putting out **** teams in the cup was Poch's speciality. Koeman has always put out strong teams in the cup which is another reason the academy players don't get much chance in the first team.
-
-
Mane will only be in if he can turn up on time.....
-
They were kind of lucky to be around during the clubs rebuilding project and to get the chance to play regularly in the lower leagues in a way that any academy boys now won't really get.
