Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
doddisalegend replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Going forward looks shaky defending though I think he'd get slaughtered in the PL -
What line will you use when we finish 8th?
doddisalegend replied to Aziz Yebda's topic in The Saints
Agreed. Our best ever season in the PL reading this place at the moment you'd think we were getting relegated.......... -
Still in Wenger's plans it would seem (as a back up CB) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32686568 "Four is enough," said Wenger, referring to Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Calum Chambers and Gabriel - who Wenger added will be "a great central defender" - while he also has Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal who can "play there". Arsenal lost the reverse fixture in November - conceding twice in the last 15 minutes after Alexis Sanchez had put them ahead - and 20-year-old Chambers, playing at right back, was given a torrid time by Swansea's Jefferson Montero. Wenger said: "Callum had some difficult games, but that's part of gaining experience and the learning process. Everybody goes through that.

Yes apparently his party have refused to accept his resignation....giving him a lovely face saving excuse not to step down after all.

Our On-the-Beach mentality is a f**king disgrace

Really can't see the club doing that ..... -

Yes pretty much because they cost a **** load of money and big wages thanks to FFP only big clubs can afford 20+ a season strikers from now on. The rest of us have to hope for a lucky break where a player hits a purple patch (like BT or Kane this season). -
You do know we are not a top six side don't you? Not good enough for us but good enough for Swansea (where he is a regular starter) who we are, arguably, not much better than. It was hard to seem he getting game time ahead of Morgan and big Vic when they where both on form but I would have loved to have Cork available the last few games to cover Morgan's injury or replace Victor now his form has dropped like a red hot brick.

Very much this. I get people are a bit disappointed we wouldn't be footie fans if we didn't all get a bit moist over the possibility of CL in Jan. but most of us were surely realistic enough to realise it was very unlikely we would stay the course. I think anyone who is disappointed should just think back to august and what the predicted for saints this season I'd be very surprised if anyone predicted finishing in the Europa league positions let alone the CL. We've end up as the best of the rest for the last two seasons which is sign we are still going forwards as a club. I'd see it as major progress if we became a regular Europa league team let alone CL. -
Not sure the club agrees isn't the whole idea to unearth the hidden football gems and then flog them on for a profit later. Buying proven players cost more money and your returns are smaller. Plenty of our players that no one took a chance on when they played in the lower leagues that have stepped up (J-rod, Clyne, Fonte, Lambert, Morgan, Lallana)

Not exactly ground breaking but straight from this horses mouth "Some people said I was going backwards, but for me it was about someone wanting me a bit more," said Cork. "It felt like I wasn't really as valued at Southampton and it felt like it was a great time to move. rest of the article here http://www.southwales-eveningpost.co.uk/Jack-Cork-feels-valued-Swansea-City/story-26474540-detail/story.html Shame IMO we couldn't have made him feel more wanted but we had three quality DMs (plus Reed pushing) so someone was going to be unhappy I guess.

Really? it's amazing how a couple of losses can provoke that sort of reaction. Despite our general upward mobility since the takeover we have had crap performances every season this was one of them. Frustrating and annoying though it is your post is a massive over reaction. Considering I thought we'd spend the whole season in the lower half of the table, last summer, this season has been superb. -
From the BBC Liverpool v Chelsea live feed A lazy Lambert Sunday... Rickie Lambert settles down on the Liverpool bench. It's safe to say he's had busier days. Just 15 touches for the striker.

Bertrand has more goals, more assists and is part of a better defensive unit this season than Shaw was last season.
-
Not sure how anyone can form much of an opinion of him based on a few short cameos. Having said that I guess if you are loan player trying to get a move you need to really shine when you are giving the opportunity and I can't really say Djuricic has done that. Personally if we have the money to buy Djuricic I'd rather we used that money to try and get Moussa Sissoko from the toon.

Favorite Chaplow moment in a saints shirt

I'm not one to really shout about my politics but I'll be happy with a con majority government best thing for the country right now IMO. Interesting to see the LD bomb so badly reinforces my opinion that being in government was the worse thing that could happen to what was essentially a protest vote party. thought this from the beeb was interesting though UKIP nationally will have gained 3.5 million votes and yet will only end up with one (or possibly two seats) in the House of Commons, YouGov's Peter Kellner says. Meanwhile, the SNP will have 1.5 million votes but 56 seats. Hardly surprising that UKIP have become advocates of electoral reform. Mr Kellner says, if nothing else, it makes electoral reform a subject of debate.

Morgan out until the end of the season
doddisalegend replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Appears we may get to see Morgan in a saints shirt at least one last time this season http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32623511 "If everything goes well, he can be ready for Manchester City (on the final day of the season). If there is a surprise he will play at home against Aston Villa." -
The complete lack of Board room drama is very refreshing.
-
Yep we are certainly pushing for best of the rest in the PL but we need to push one of the other teams out of a regular top six position to be considered a top six side.
-
Really we've had less than Chelsea and Man City? I guess Terry has played most games for Chelsea but he is 34 and hardly comparable to JWP or Reed just starting out in their careers. Which academy players have city played this season?
-
Are we? Slightly premature me thinks to counted as a top six side we need to regularly finish in the ....errr...top six as yet we haven't even done it once.
-
errr............... sounds a bit like the sort of owner pompey would get
-
Guess it depends on this http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/29/atletico-madrid-real-madrid-transfer-embargo-reports If fifa do put a transfer embargo on them I can't see Toby going to anyone. No point having loads of cash and not enough players.
