TBF in the first half we seemed determined to by pass the midfield with long punts forward, in attempt to hit Lambert or down the channels for Lee, so the midfield weren't getting much of a look in or chance to retain possession. When we took off Lambert and Lee we started playing to feet and looked much better for it and started to retain the ball. On the other hand we scored two while punting it forward and none when we started playing really good football:?

Game of two halves .Great result made even better by WHU cocking up again. Thought we were awful first half aimless punting, sloppy passing and no energy couldn't see us scoring luckily Adam stepped up with a decent strike. Second half Lee fashions a goal out of skill and sheer bloody hard work. After Lambert and Lee came off we played some really great football and Barnsley couldn't get near us. Things I took from this game * Dean and Morgan just don't work together, both wanting to play the defensive midfield roll, with out someone to get forward. Once we added Cork in the second half the three of them where much better * First half today (like tuesday) we went for longballs down the channels for Lee to playoff or longballs to Lambert to knock on for Lee and we looked poorer for it. When we played to feet ,like we did in the second half, we looked great. * MOTM for me the much maligned Guly worked his socks off today.

Northam getting quieter, Chapel getting louder?
doddisalegend replied to Tom8558's topic in The Saints
The Chapel (at least where I sit) seemed to have a few more middle age gentlemen who wanted to sing today which seemed to catch on a bit. A few ST holders around me moved to the Chapel from the Northam this season, becuase of the cost, they keep trying to start songs which don't catch on very often but once in a while they do. Second half I took my daughter to the loo as we came up the stairs from the concourse we were just hit be a wall of noise in the form of OWTS which seemed to be coming from the whole staduim .....it was f ucking good. -
Saints fan spared jail for assaulting rival fans in bar

And eveyone knows it so they've only got themselves to blame if they kick off at football. I don't see why some people get so worked up about this..........Unless they feel causing trouble at football matches should be allowed......Honestly the whole world in unfair it's just life...... -
West ham would have won the league weeks ago....

errrrrr yes you have. adriansfc was pointing out that lazy journalists would all compare Holt and Lambert becuase they've both come up from the lower leagues and are big blokes. I was pointing out that Matty Holland had already made that compararison. At no point would I describe SRL as lazy...I love the bloke (in a non man on man way:)) -

Actually I've just noticed he uses the term "as simple as that" maybe it's Nigel having a wind up on KUMB.... -

Surely it's not that unfortunate for Reading in the case of WHU then -

In fairness WHU would probably be struggling if they sacked big sam early doors put some coach in charge who managed to loose three games in a row before installing a new manager. Take 9pts of WHU for a management change over this season, as we did last season, and they'd be 9th. The only reason we didn't finish above brigton was becuase of the chaos cuased by a manager change all IMO of course. -

Personally I think people have over rated WHU for most of the season they certainaly aren't any better than us. Doh meant to edit my own post not reply to it.... -

Fair enough I like this from a WHU fan on KUMB, he isn't alone either. One thing I kept finding myself thinking last night, was how we have absolutely nobody that gets the juices flowing when they get the ball. No flair. No excitement. Blimey, I even used to enjoy seeing Konchesky have a run down the left last time we were down here. I actually think, dare I say this, we just ain't very good. We have poor players, and I think really it is as simple as that as to why we are not running away with the league. With the exception of Green, Tomkins, Faye Nolan, and Noble, the rest of them are just avarage players in an average team. I'm not looking forward to promotion, because unless a totally new team is built, we are going to get seriously punished week in week out. -
Yep I was horrified when I saw Harding a) cross the halfway line in support of his winger b) actually tackle an opposition winger c) put a couple of acurate long passes right were Lee wanted them would be nice if Harding could actually take a set piece though he really is pants at corners and free kicks and his second half performance was less than steller

and yet they are in second and have pretty much done no more than us results wise....so do they have a crap manager or is the team not as good in real life as it is on paper? -

He probably thinks Lambert would be good for his team to hoof it to....Having no idea that Lambert prefers it played to his feet..... -
Which makes me wonder what you're watching? What effort would you like him to put in if it's not running about more. I saw plenty of effort from him closing down and tackling on tuesday. Guly doesn't lack effort that's just another saints web urban myth his biggest problem is his often heavy and poor first touch which gets him into trouble or screws up a useful opening.

LOL quick look on the KUMB post match thread could be this place last night..... not a happy bunch of fans tonight

Get the f uck in well done Watford. See anything we can do WHU can do to.....
-
becuase we where 4 goals up against Watford by 90min both times we played them. Look at it this way we hammered Watford twice the champions elect are struggling to beat them at all.....
-
Plenty of time for Watford to get the winner then:D
-
a draw ain't the end of the world ....
-
Looks like Watford are giving it a good go WHU have had most of the possession but Watford have had more attempts on goal Big Sam throwing on the subs with 15 mins to go
-
They don't need to come on here the crowd at SMS don't take long to start moaning if we're not winning as you say " peoples anxiousness manifests itself very negatively rather than being positive" that's only going to get worse as the pressure at the end of the season gets more acute.
-
Yeah all those threads about how Lambert wasn't up to it and how we needed to sign about 15 new players, on here last summer, was a sign that loads of people thought it was obvoius they'd make the step up..........
-
I think a lot of people said the same about our players making the step up to the championship from league 1 the only way we will find out is by playing them in the PL and see if theymake the step up
