Good stuff. A great player for us hope he goes on to prove himself at champ level too. I can't help but like Rickie, even though he is a scouser, he always seems so down to earth and happy to be a saints player.

I'd actually rather we signed good lower league talent. Players who are hungry to prove themselves at a higher level ones that think that playing for saints is a good thing. That's what we've had the last couple of seasons players who look like they actually want to be at Southampton football club. Give me a settled, hardworking team of commited, if not the most talented, players over a bunch of talented but dis-interested prima donnas, only here to milk the club before moving on. If we don't sign any PL/championship super stars and sign some up and coming lower league talent I won't be upset HTBH

I'm I the only one who thinks the atmosphere is often down to whats going on on the pitch rather than becuase some people decided to stand up? The chapel (actually the whole of SMS) can be like a grave yard at times usual becuase the game on the pitch is a pile of turd. Never once I have thought "Christ this match is dire but look the guys in the Northam are stood up! wow this game suddenly just got a whole lot better".............

Not at all amazingly I find I'm able to sing,clap and cheer while sat down..................

The best thing about this thread is I didn't realise how many people were privy to NCs private thoughts..........It doesn't seem to matter whether they're a happy clappy or a wrist slasher they all know what NC is/isn't planning to do.........

The Chapels full of kids standing up blocks their view even if they are behind you at 3ft nothing having a straping big 6ft adult stood in front of them kind of spoils it for them. Chapel is for families and old farts, Northam is for the "I'm hard so I stand up" types.

Surely those three already have cut it at championship level? Deano has played two seasons at championship level for Brighton. My only slight concern is our two main strikers are unproven at this level.

Personally think top half finish will be a good season. From a personal point of view I have no interest in saints getting back to the PL (I couldn't afford to watch them on a regular basis if the price hikes this season were anything to go by). So I'd be happy with saints being a good championship team and beating poopey twice a season. Given this I'm suprisingly relaxed about next season I think were good enough for mid table as we are.

Getting back on topic I generally use WTF as opposed to OMG which is of course blasphemy and means you won't get in to heaven.........

Well I have a bat by the bed anyone breaks into my house and threatens my family I'll use it. It's not like you can stop to ask four masked intruders weather they are going to harm you and your family or not. Anyone in that situation is going to act on instinct and adrenline it's fight or flight time. I'm not a violent person by nature but pushed into a corner like any animal I'll fight back. The thing that gets me is ordinary people are forced into these postions by criminals, forced to act on instinct and then punished when the crimnal comes off worse.

Which is good. However if thats true and we are the only ones working like that it might impact on our ability to get in new talent as surely the agents will want to get the players into clubs that will "play the agent game". Of course this all assumption based on one tweet might be nothing in it.

I agree. The problem is on the one hand we have talk of champions league and pushing for top five PL on the other we have have the need to live with in our means I can't see the two being compatible. To do the former we need to spend like Man city to do the latter is easy but won't IMO bring CL football to SMS. Personally I'm happy with being a champ team in good finicial nick........I know others want more though.

OH FFS football is supposed to be played at 3.00pm on a saturday except for the odd evening game on a tuesday.... I really wish sky would just f uck off so football could go back to being about the fans rather than TV revenue.

My misses has no interest in football she'll watch our son play but that's it. She doesn't mind me going becuase I take the kids and she gets alone time. My daughter likes going to the footie,my son lives for football. He is supposed to be going to his nans for a week on the 6th of August, his phoned her up and told she'll have to come and get him on sunday becuase dirty leeds are coming to town on the 6th and he ain't missing the match (made me a proud dad).

As is any team that loses good players, that debate has been done to death,we have cover in those postions not as good as the first choice players but then the cover players would be first choice if they were better.

Errrrr no he is not, You could just as easily blame Nigel for failing to win at Wallsall or losing to Brentford, It's the number of matches you win over a season that counts not when you win them. A poor start in itself (say losing your first four games) means squat if you go on a 24 game winning streak afterwards, same the other way we could win the first 8 games then go on a 15 gaming losing streak would that have anything to do with Pre-season? No it wouldn't. The point still holds despite a poor pre-season we came second 3pts behind the champions which just shows pre-season don't count for much IMO.

yep I'd rather see us bring in young(ish) promising and affordable lower league talent who are thankful to be playing for saints and give everything. Than spending big money on overpriced, (often over the hill) big names who could no more care about saints than they do the fluff from their bum crack.
