Far, far too sensible for the current Conservative party and it's media cheerleaders. What a state this country is in. https://www.politicshome.com/thehouse/article/we-can-upgrade-brexit-and-ease-the-cost-of-living-by-going-back-to-the-single-market

To be fair he only played 15 games for Hull. Is that too early to pass judgement on his ability ?

Apparently he owned one of the horses running in the 3.45 race. It lostπ. Mickey Channon trained a winner today. π

... And Anfield in the League Cup semi final. What a moment!!

I'm not sure how you work that out. Last summer in the Euros we won 4 nil in Ukraine but limped to a miserable 0 -0 with Scotland. Add in the traditional Scottish / Welsh hostility to England and I would prefer Ukraine any day.

If Johnson goes there could be one hell of a fight for the leadership. The swivels such as Baker and Davis have been very vocal in their dislike of Johnson. Like Duckie, they see him as a pinko and will want to replace him with a "true Tory". On the other side there are the pinkos. The likes of Ellwood and Tugenhadt who have often seemed not to fit in a Johnson government. They are probably far too sensible for the Conservative party membership's seal of approval. Hunt has been rejected once by the Tories and maybe damaged goods now. Interestingly the "diving wardrobe" Pompey Penny is shortish odds (8/1) with the bookies to become the next leader. As a Brexiteer who doesn't seem to be a swivel could she be the compromise choice? -

Isn't it strange how it is always Liverpool fans have trouble getting into grounds. Man City fans, Chelsea fans, Arsenal fans or any other fans never seem to have any issues.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much. Stop waffling. Just admit that you made a mistake and move on. It's not as if it would be the first mistake you have made on this forum. π -

So you vote Conservative on what sounds like moral grounds. I think you are a little confused. You prefer to vote for a party led by a serial adulterer. A party which has to contest 2 by elections because one of its MP s is now serving time for sexually assaulting a child and another one was addicted to watching porn. A party which has had to suspend one of its MPs due to sexual assault. A party which has told one of its MPs not to turn up to Parliament as he has been arrested for rape. You prefer to vote for a party where 3 cabinet ministers have been accused of sexual assault. Blimey. You do have a strange thought process. -

How about waiting to see if we get him before getting worked up. It's going to be a long, long summer if we jump on every Twitter rumour.

Good old Saintsweb. Let's write a player off . Not after he has played a few times for us . Not after he has made his debut . Not after he has signed but after some dodgy bloke who 99% of us haven't heard of links us with him on Twitter. Ah well. I am sure he is crap.

As part of the general end of season review I was contemplating the most inane comment I had heard on a radio phone in. I don't know whether callers are being screened better before going on air but this season nothing really stands out. The award would probably go to the (so called) Citeh fans who wanted Pep to be sacked after they failed to win a match. My favourite of all time came a couple of years ago when a Liverpool fan phoned in. A relatively young lad he proudly claimed that he "was not just a supporter for the good times." He had supported Liverpool "through the bad times as well." Blimey. Imagine supporting a team that could only finish 8th. π

I have to confess that until recently I was in the Lord Duckhunter "Dog and Duck" school of thought about women's football. I never showed much interest in it and thought it was just a passing fad. Our girls's performance this season has made me change my opinion. I have followed their scores and yesterday was the first time that I have seen the team play. I saw some good football and I was impressed. You can see that they have been coached well and have enthusiasm and energy. Articles like the one below also help in increasing my understanding of the women's game. I await following the team's performance in the Championship next season. Ah well. Something else that I now disagree with Duckie about. π https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/21/southampton-women-win-promotion-to-second-tier-after-victory-against-wolves?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Oth

Let's just hope that you are not around when there is a "major trial". You have posted pretty often on the subject of a "minor trial". God knows how the forum would cope with all your posts if you started to opine on the subject of a "major trial". π -
I did like the half time music selection: God save the Queen 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Not sure about the rest of the evening.

That is interesting. My niece and her boyfriend have just moved into the constituency from central Bristol. A teacher and a psychologist there is no way that they would vote for JRM. A lot of supposedly safe Tory seats like this one would be vulnerable with a "progressive pact" if they are typical of the demographic changes taking place. -

If the anti Tory vote could get its act together, his (North East Somerset) is the sort of constituency that the Tories could lose. At the last election the "Progressive" vote was split between Labour, Lib Dem and Green. JRM received just over 50% of the vote as there was no alternative to him for right wing voters. A few more widely publicised idiotic statements from JRM will lose him some votes. A few more educated young professionals moving into the area would increase the progressive vote in his constituency. His seat however is really only vulnerable if Labour / Lib Dem / Greens can decide which one of them gets a free run at the next election. I am not sure if they will come to such an arrangement but wouldn't it be nice to see the "member for the 19th century" out of Parliament and left to spend his time counting his money.
