Well worth it. Thanks for posting.

I agree that it is an idiotic system. It is a present from the 18th century writers of the American constitution and their appeasing of states who didnt want to hand over all power to a potentially "tyrannical" Federal government. However only once since the start of the 20th century had the popular vote winner not been elected... and that was Gore in 2000 and there were plenty of legal constitutional challenges then.

Thanks for such a well argued reasonable response. Would you care to elucidate?

Of course everyone knows that polls are not reliable and it would be a good idea to compare 2020 polls with 2016 polls but … On this side of the pond and on this forum there seems to be a view that Trump is bound to win in November. Polling in America would suggest that this is not the case.

Trump won Texas in 2016 by 9 percent. The latest poll shows him level with Biden in Texas. Trump won Pennsylvania in 2016. Biden is now leading by 6% .... according to the latest poll.

Scanning for temperature was being used extensively 8 weeks ago in Singapore. It was being done both obviously with a thermometer when entering a restaurant / bar and less obviously by people behind a computer in the arrivals lounge at the airport / outside tourist attractions etc. The temperature tests may not have been perfect and Singapore has had a "second spike" caused by workers in dormitories but their record in combating Covid has been good - better than ours. It is strange that similar measures have not been introduced here.

The widows of the band who kept on playing whilst the ship was sinking had a deduction made from their husbands's final pay because their husbands didn't return their uniforms.

We would fit the bill of what they are looking for if you consider us to be one of those in the group of clubs just below the top 6. -

I wonder what our resident trolls are up to these days now that there is no football to bet on? -

Hmmm. I wonder whether the appearance of this story is an attempt to flush out any more potential buyers. -
If the Premier League is voided will the Saints web Prediction League also be consigned to oblivion?? I sincerely hope so.

I don't expect that many of the people who call it the "Chinese virus" have any Chinese friends.

Duncan Spedding. I looked him up on Saturday evening when the website opened. My wife met him briefly about 20 years ago and he gave us a signed football. It was one of junior Tamesaint's most prized possessions when he was growing up.

An amazing interview this lunchtime with some female supporter of Trump - I think that her name was Mrs Guided Missile or something. Apparently Trump wasnt being sarcastic when he talked about Dettol injections. He thought he was being sarcastic but Mrs GM claimed that he wasnt. He was just putting forward suggestions to be investigated and the Lying media misreported it. I can just see the Noble (sic - Trump's spelling of Nobel) prize committee viewing his application now. Its all so clear now .....

You missed out arrogant.

I wonder if Trump is going for the Nobel Prize for medicine or for chemistry??

Calling Guided Missile to the testing room.

Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 and it was only the electoral college based system that saved his bacon. That was when he was facing an unpopular Democrat candidate and a divided party. Now Sanders has already thrown his support behind Biden who is less divisive than Hilary Clinton. Biden's support base is also widened by people/ those minorities who continue to have fond memories of the Obama regime. Biden may well be an old man but Trump is no spring chicken. An inspired choice of running mate (Kamala Harris would fit the bill) would also widen his support base further. It will not of course be a shoo in for Biden. The title of POTUS will earn Trump some support. He will also have plenty of opportunities for good old fashioned "gerrymandering. " Democrat voters will find it harder to cast their votes than voters in Republican areas. Nevertheless in the end I think that Trump will be defeated.
