Why didn't Crouch save us from administration?
SaintRobbie replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
OK... I think people will be happy to see Askham fall into obscurity now. If he were to be involved centrally again then the fans could use him as the new Lowe and stay away if results start badly next season. Simply, he's next on the hate list. As long as he lays very low I'm sure he'll drift away into the bad history along with his friend Mr Lowe forever. -

Were the 'strings' not £2m from the other 2 though? -

As I say Nick, there is only one fact. Barclays Bank pulled the rug from under Lowe at the earliest opportunity - as soon as evidence of the plc going overdrawn was there, despite the fact as you say they did it for a comparatively small amount of money. So why did they do that? Answer: Even the bank could see Lowe's financial acumen was dubious and the plc was failing, whilst the Club was heading for relegation. It is clear: Barclays removed a failure before the failure made things worse. Lowe HAD failed to attract investment - indeed Mary Corbett had reported that there were investors who were staying clear whilst Lowe was in the chair. Lowe HAD ACTUALLY reduced attendences by poor club playing policy and his very presence that was turning fans away (Proven by the massive increases in gate receipts since his departure). Lowe HAD failed to sell players. Despite underhandedly sidelining them in order to encourage them to leave in the January transfer window. It's a no-brainer. Lowe FAILED, WAS FAILING and ADMINISTRATION WAS A CERTAINTY at some point anyway. Thus Barclays humiliated Lowe and Wilde, the club now has a queue of buyers, massive gate increases, hope and a degree of optimism. We have legends like MLT taking time to go on Soccer AM, Banners all over Southampton's streets and roundabouts looking to demonstrate how much the city loves the Club. Barclays Bank are certainly no fools. The poetic justice of the Bank finally killing the plc and Lowe's influence forever in the Club (despite the Lowedites constant drawl about him being good financially!) is simply wonderful football irony... and I have to say I love it! -
Nothing to say other than upbeat about Saints win against Palarse and chances for today. Think we can stay up... but you'd expect that. The reason they're on is to keep Southampton in the public eye and support the takeover deals on the highest profile footy programme on the box at the moment. Brilliant! What's more the call for Saints fans to get on Soccer AM on the OS is a good thing too, exactly what we posted for a couple of weeks ago! Whoever does it... keep selling the club!!

Because I think his contribution should be assessed holistically. Wotte fed the sweety mice to Lowe years ago that Total Youth Football would work. It has resulted in relegation. Wotte had JP removed and then changed Club policy to allow men into the team when it became obvious we were going down under the strategy. It is not surprising that by playing Saga, Euell, Skacel etc we have had better results. Had JP not had the same restrictions I feel that we would be bottom half but probably not relegation certainties. Wotte has been clumbsy in his support of Lowe and criticism of the fans. Wotte is Lowe's man. The new owners should bring in their own man if the management team from top to bottom is going to be tailored for success and for unity. Whats more I dont think he's any good, so far he has relegated a Dutch team, left his international jobs shall we say...errrr... suddenly and will IMHO relegate Saints. If he doesnt then I'll say, 'phew that was lucky' but still insist he is removed I'm afraid. Wotte was one of the architects of this fallacy of a season. He needs to leave with his master (and according to Lowe himself 'good friend') regardless. Time for a change. I like the Aidy Boothroyd suggestions.

Dyer permanently to Swansea, keeps the club going.

Good point - so who pays Fry? Barclays? -
So irrelevant then?

It does not pain me to say this, but if Wotte keeps us up I would still sack the useless fraud who ruined our season and conned his way into the managerial appointment. Mr 'TotalYouthFootballWillWorkMrLoweAndIAgreeItsAllTheFansFaultForNotSupporting' Wotte IS history in 3 games time IMHO. If not? Then our new owners may need to seriously examine their bid again (which I am assuming contains an ambitious plan for the Club as well as a man to lead it).

I think you really need to direct this question to Mr Guy Askham, who still has the audacity to turn up on match days. -
So you did... thought you may have meant The Beatles. You John Ringo Paul and the other one. Anyway... can I be the first to congratulate you and the remaining fans (including the thousands of stay aways of course who's fault it is that Rupert led us into administration apparently) who went to Cardiff with us in May 2003. We did good.

True... but give me a bigger name and we attract better players.

Message for Wotte: Play Skacel in attacking midfield role vs Palace
SaintRobbie replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
LOL! Definitely had Skacel as MOTM though! -
The man's a genius. 3 games and regardless of the outcome... Wotte's history. Thank god.

I think it was speculative U P. I dont recall Crouch offering £2m separately. As for the other, possibly a publicity stunt, probably to highlight how much money Lowe has ever given himself (afterall we now know he has taken £3m) - must have been a genuine offer... what if Wilde and Lowe had taken him up on it!? -

Club is completely united. Just need a new owner to be declared so we can get on with rebuilding the damage done, primarily, by Rupert Lowe. -

As I recall he offered £2m of his own money if the other 2 (Lowe and Wilde) matched him. -
I dont think so.... Shearer will stay at the Toon if they go down IMHO.

I noticed The Sun (or was it the Mirror?) had Skacel as MOTM as an attacking midfielder! -
