Selles is not a manager! He has never managed. Hiring him is like promoting the head barman of a large hotel to be it's manager. What's he done to merit the job? Playing Djenepo at RB and scraping to a penalty win over Sheffield Wednesday? Crazy, crazy suggestion.

So who are you suggesting that would realistically come here and is available... saying no to options is easy...

I don't agree with Allardyce but at least you're putting a name forward. People saying no, no and no to options but offering no names offer nothing to a discussion.

I get that, and he may be crap. I'd take him in a heartbeat over Selles though who's only ever managed kids for a season. I cannot fathom why anyone is supporting his appointment, even short term.

I was impressed with the way he conducted himself at Derby (as a manager, not the twat he was in his younger days), and the results he managed to drag out of a seriously poor Derby squad. His teams looked fit, organised, and clearly played for him. I could be wrong, and he could be as shit as Lampard or as average as Gerrard, but of the 3 of those, he's the one that I think would be the least shit option.

None of the above. Selles has done nothing whatsoever to even be in the discussion. The others just aren't up to it, although I do think there's potentially a very good manager in Rooney.

Allardyce or Selles - who are you adding to basket?

Like it or not Brighton are a more attractive proposition than us at the moment. They have a great squad, they buy well, and are not half way through the trap door to potential waste ground that is the championship. He's also shown himself above that level. Not a snowballs chance in hell of us getting Potter.
  9. That's a very good point. His Leeds contract is apparently until 2025 and £3.5m a year. If we're only offering until June 2023 it even 2024, I can't blame him for walking away from us.
  10. Indeed. Djenepo RB. Salisu LB. Laboured to a penalty win. Never managed beyond a brief spell managing kids. On no level is this guy what we need.
  11. Wilder has proved himself a decent championship level manager. Wouldn't be my pick but we could do worse.
  12. What a shambles. Seems like the club saw him as a caretaker... whether we didn't want him if we went down, or didn't want him if we stayed up isn't clear, but logic says it must be one or the other. Selles. Crazy.
  13. I didn't hear it, but it seems that Leeds fans and watchers either like or loathe the guy. I guess his non possession, chase the ball style won't appeal to everyone, and like us under Ralph, it'll lead to us having our pockets picked often. Personally, I'd rather a risky ish brand of football than an anonymous/archaic brand. On the last bit, the sad thing is that we could all see it and I can't understand why they that let it drag on. Really weak management from SR that is likely to cost us.
  14. At the end of the day, any manager who is available will have failed in his last job, hence his availability. Any option will divide opinion. If you ask any Villa fan, they'll tell you that they were going down under Gerrard who was terrible for them. I wouldn't quite describe him as a Jones with a bit more charisma, but he ain't far off that. His feat of winning in Scotland doesn't impress at all. It's a terrible league (we've just upgraded Olaigbe's loan from Scotland Prem to English league 2) so success up there isn't a credible benchmark. Marsch walked into hell's kitchen when he joined Leeds. Bielsa was god like. Sure, Rapinha was amazing for them, but Marsch kept that team up, and has won games at this level. If our choice is Marsch, Gerrard, Lampard or Rooney, it'd be Marsch all day long. That said, I think they'd all command the dressing room and a shot in the arm on the pitch. Lampard has done nothing to even warrant a mention - he was a great player but he won't be playing for us, and he's not shown himself to be a decent manager. Rooney is the interesting. I thought he did well at Derby in tough circumstances, but since then he's a nightmare at DC united - 2 wins in 14 is shocking. No idea what that's about, but it ain't great. Marsch for me. Best of a meh lot, but we've got to be realistic on our options.

  16. He's a coach who's coached a team who look badly coached. The fact that nobody can justify why they want him to get the job says it all.
  17. Apologies...so the cluster fuck that has been this season...an ever present on both managers watch. The point remains - what has he done to persuade anyone that he's the answer for the remainder of this season?
  18. I don't see Marsch as a failure. I'd prefer him to Selles who is an ever present in what's been the cluster fuck if the last 18 months or so. He should be out of the door and I'm struggling to understand why people think he'll offer anything that's neat good enough...seems to be based on hope. Marsch has at least managed at this level.
  19. Not sure where I said we'd only get bad managers mate, you made that up. What we won't get are people who at the start of the season who saw us a forward career step. Who would come here as a caretaker? Really easy to say something like that, but who would you realistically suggest?
  20. So who do you expect us to get given where we are, and where we're heading? If this were the summer and we were safe we've have all sorts of options. That's not the case though, and people need to accept the reality of our situation and how we attractive we're not to decent managers right now.

it's reasonable to assume that he won't be lying in a hotel in Southampton once Chelsea eventually sack him. If he's got any sense he'll be lying on a sunbed in the Caribbean for about 6 months with a Pina Colada in his hand until he gets a call from West Ham to move across London.
  23. Blimey, that's night and day from Jones. This bloke is an actual likeable human being.
  24. Jones had plans A - E each game, and that was just for our defensive shape. They were all shit though. If we can get a manager with a decent plan A for the rest of this season, that'd be a start.

Ha!! Very good... although either would probably do better than Jones, I'm not convinced that Tessem's management spell for Totton in 2008, and Benali's under 12 and Romsey Town experience is quite what we need.
