The point is that your post made future profit the priority. It isn't. It's about players improving the team, and the team doing well. Seems odd that anyone would focus on the profit on a player who ain't kicked a ball for us yet.
-
Agreed on all of that. Stephens really is much better than people say, and will be fine in a 3. Neither of the 2 new lads rumoured to be coming in will start ahead of him imo. If the choice is spending proper money spent on a goalscorer or a luxury midfielder (in addition to Downes) the priority must be the goalscorer. I emphasise the word goalscorer rather than striker as we have players who technically are, but none of those will get the goals to keep us up.
-
Yep, and the issue is going to be our inability to spend proper money getting a proper striker in, especially if we spend any cash we have on midfielders and THB. I fear that we'll be in the loan or freebie market in the area where we should be spending the bulk of our budget. There could be a role yet for Alcaraz or tall Paul.

I suspect RM realises his team needs a spine, he doesn't need a DOF to point that out.
-
That's niche randomness if ever there was!
-
Yes, football is a business, but it is a sad state of affairs that your focus was on potential future profit rather than hoping that the lads would come into the team and do well.
-
I don't even know what the argument is about. Seems to have fuck all to do with Glastonbury. On that, the Mrs had Coldplay's set on when I came home yesterday. Not my thing, but they put on a cracking show.
-
Dibling and SAA barely got a sniff last season. That won't attract or retain kids. The decent kids will go elsewhere for more dollars to get the same lack of opportunities.
-
Absolute pony. The supreme court decision tells us that any checks and balances they had can be manipulated by having politically appointed judges. The country is a complete shit show.
-
Yep, good post. If I was a promising kid here, I'd assume I ain't getting 1st team football, so I'd go elsewhere to also not good 1st team football but get a)more cash, b) better coaching and development, and c) a chance to get 1st team football in that clubs extensive loan network.
-
Did you moan when we took Meghoma and SAA from spurs academy? That left back from Everton who everyone thought was gonna be a superstar? Roundabouts and swings mate.
-
Decent business. Good, solid player, experienced and proven in the PL, and free transfer means cash can be spent in other areas.

I never go to turkey and think of myself a sgoing to Asia. I never see their football teams playing in Europe, or their country playing in European qualifiers and tournaments, and wonder why some Asian team is involved. Forget the technicalities, people recognise turkey as European. Anyways, the debate is daft as Taiwan ain't joining NATO.

Didn't go well apparently. Smallest crowd ever for a headliner, and thousands of them drifted away. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ck5g74jr59eo Anyone who didn't catch Idles, I recommend watching it. Their music ain't really my thing, but I've never seen a better live performance. Absolutely immense.

The 3 Chelsea deals with Villa and Leicester are all weird. One unproven player sold by Chelsea for £35m, and an unproven kid and a bloke they don't need signed for £54m. Mental business all round.
-
Yep, them too. They've knocked out some cracking tracks to be fair. Looking forward to The National later, brilliant live band.
-
Yep. Some cracking other performances though. Two Door Cinema Club brilliant, as were Fontaines DC, Idles, LCD sound system amongst others.
-
They're in the Eurovision so EU and NATO membership should be just around the corner. Bring Israel in too.
-
You highlighted the name SoG, despite knowing it doesn't bear any resemblance to the members. Taiwan won't get in though, the US have already been daft enough to promise to have their backs when the Chinese have a crack at them. No need to drag the rest of NATO into that skirmish when it happens.
-
Absolutely. They look everything that we aren't. They play with pace, movement, fluidity, and energy. Sad thing is, we have the players to do so.
