Sheff Utd 2-2 (p.2-4) Saints - Match Thread
Saint Matty 76 replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
If we’re doing the whole Forster/McCarthy thing again then there isn’t a way on earth that Forster makes that save against City. -
I’ve given Romeu a load of shit recently but he was excellent today. He was so good at the stuff he’s usually poor at. There was a moment later in the game where the ball was played to him and KDB pressed him and he feinted to take the ball in stride as calm as you like. Hard to say anyone (almost) was poor but Bednarek, Salisu, Livramento, Romeu and Elyounoussi were all too class.

Even if you don't think it's a penalty, it isn't a clear and obvious mistake. If he didn't give it and then looked at the footage and thought there wasn't enough, okay. However to give the penalty and then say it's clear and obvious that it isn't a foul, that is utterly horrendous.

Unbelievable performance from the lads out there. Disgusting decision may have cost us three points but played their hearts out there.
-
Livramento is fucking exceptional. Elyounoussi as well has been absolutely brilliant.
-
I literally cannot believe it. For it to be "clear and obvious" it has to be a dive or Walker to have won the ball? He sticks a leg out and lands on top of Armstrong stopping him turning and having a chance? That's fucking outrageous.
-
Clear and obvious error... unless you're a top 6 side.
-
He literally told Armstrong the run to make, he made it and Redmond still fucked it up. My god.
-
🤣 At least there's usually something to moan about.
-
I know we all have the same idea of where the second half may go, but at least praise the team whilst they've got it right. Would like to see Broja on for Che in the second half. Maybe Perraud on for Redmond with KWP switching to the right and Livra doubling up on Grealish.
-
You wouldn't think we'd just played a good half away at City reading this forum.
-
Had a few chances at the end of the half here.
-
We seriously miss Armstrong's ability to pick the ball up and drive with it. Redmond is just totally anonymous.
-
We're playing really well so far. Do worry they'll pick us off on the break like Newcastle did, just with far higher quality players.
-
Ah lovely, the two slowest CBs on planet earth against City's quick attack. Perfect game to rest Salisu.
-
Fair point. It is essentially some sort of clickbait, but as mentioned above it doesn't take a second or two to remember who's played. I don't see anything wrong with it personally. Their game has been drastically under-promoted in recent years so I respect the push.
-
Is that legitimately an issue worth noting?
-
Probably discussed before but any idea what happened to kbilly and Guan? Looking through the SaintsFC hashtag and seeing the mountains of people pretending to be ITK (looking at you CabbageFace) so sprung back to my mind.
-
Teams are seeming increasingly willing to do a loan > obligation this window, so you'd like to think the opportunity is there. Especially if we've just pulled in £2/3m for Obafemi.
-
Kamara or McKennie in on loan would make this a 9/10 window for me (can't be 10/10 with these two keepers even though I understand why we can't add another). A lack of DM coming in would leave a slightly sour taste in my mouth as we're so weak if any of the three we have get injured, and I still don't think Romeu is starting quality any more.
-
Djenepo is literally right footed for fuck sake. 😆
-
Not gonna lie I’m more than happy with Armstrong shooting the way he does, nice change from previous seasons.
-
Nothing backing it but he's not had a minute so far has he? Seems strange from playing almost every match in preseason. He didn't let in an absolute howler so it's progress.
-
He seems to have fallen out with Tella so I'd be playing Elyounoussi and Redmond on the wings based on what we've seen so far. Actually thought Elyounoussi played really well, even if it did take a bit of luck for his first goal to go in. There's no way Djenepo or Walcott should be anywhere near.
