Well, that would be progress of a type.

Hope we don't concede another 'worldly' in the first 2 minutes.

"Johnstones Paint Trophy, you'll never win that....."

I think it should be open to teams in the Premier League who finish between 10th and 20th. This would definitely add a new dimension to finishing 17th and could result in a scramble towards the ednf the season for teams who look like they wont qualify for Europe losing as many games as possible to get in the 11th place slot. I think this could suit us fine. -
A sensible post by CB Fry.

Very wise words indeed. Are we having a successful season ? Yes ! We have had a few disappointing results of late, but we are currently 6th in the league with every chance of finishing in the top half of the table. By my reckoning it would be hard to call the season anything but successful. Now what DEGREE of success ? Well that depends on expectations.
-
Which button did you press for that response ?
-
In other words, sit tight we are just having a bad spell and one good win should put things right. You could be right, let's hope so.
-
Why though ? Are the players jaded or are they just not trying as hard now that we are safe ? Are other teams allowing us less space ? Consider, if we get one good win against Palace, will we go on another good run and all our concerns be seen as over reacting or will we fall back to our goal drought ? In other words, is it too early to be concerned ? After all we are not in any danger and probably will finish at least 11th.

Sigh...the statement about doing a Fulham ended with a ? mark. I was not saying that I believed we were were doing a Fulham, but simply opened up the question for people to comment. This could have led to a range of valid and differing opinions, which is always very interesting. I understand you have problems with such a concep CB FRY.

Fair enough, you have offered a good reason not to give Defoe a contract for four years. I can only think that we are being hopeful about the the return of Jay Rod, or have someone in mind we are prepared to wait for. After all, unlike Slumberland, we have the luxury of knowing that we will be hosting premier football at SMS next season.

Read the comment by 'richard' and follow the thread carefully, that way you will avoid making a fool of yourself with your pre-programmed answers.

For most people that was our aim, and will be next season as well.
-
If we had an unbroken run in the premier league for the next 24 years, regardless of where we finished, but importantly above the relegation zone, you would say that was low expectations ? If you want a team that can win the league, go and support a 'plastic' team.
-
Indeed, your statement confirms that you do not often read my posts. That my friend, is your prerogative and fine by me.
-
Are we doing a 'Fulham ?'. Can you remember when Fulham used to get to safety, then give up for the rest of the season. Are we the new 'Fulham' ?
-
Exactly, and if we bury our head in the sand we are likely to be spanked on the way.

Refer to thread elsewhere re CB Fry obsession with posters. I rest my case. Still, CB Fry, you give us all a good laugh !
-
However, if you judge 10th against our hopes at the very start of the season, you have to say most people would have been very happy with that.
-
It would be nice to score. Sometimes, you just need to get an early goal to open up the floodgates. I am convinced Pelle needs a rest and the squad needs a confidence boost.
-
Based on current form and form of other teams. Possibly 10th. IMO a comfortable finish to what will have been a successful season.
-
Looking at the table, I think realistically we will finish 11th.
-
A 0-0 draw would steady the ship, so would not be a disaster.
-
CB Fry is like that. he used to shadow my posts for years. The thing is, he has little credibility so just ignore him.
-
I said that 17th and upwards would make me happy. That is not low expectations. Staying in the top league year on year, like our last 27 year run is not low expectations.
