Your argument would make sense in reference to 30 years ago except that in the modern game footballers do not play through injuries like they used to. They do not get injections full of pain killer which later does serious damage. Also, the game today is more skilled and brings about a lot of minor injuries that need attention. I agree that a mid table finish would not be disaster, I would be over the moon, but never take the league for granted. Most people seem to want a top 6 finish and I would say concentrate on this.

I would rather we concentrate our energies on one goal, the premier league, than adopt a scatter gun approach with small squad. We could easily end up failing to win either cup and finish mid table or lower.

Its always a matter of opinion, but I cannot believe that a league Cup win is worth as much as a top 6 win. The FA Cup is, but I would generally always put league before Cup.

Print it out and casually leave it lying about...that's a good one.

Good post. I would wait until we are safe, which we may well do by the end of December and then go for the FA CUP. I am worried that we might go on and win the League Cup and get relegated, never mind qualifying for the European Cup.

Yes, this is something that worries me. We might get away with four wins to stay up, but 5 makes it most likely. Until we get to 40 points I won't relax. BTW, this is much more like it, posts like this discussing keeping clear of the bottom three as opposed to finishing in the top 3.

At the end of the day we have gone a long way to securing our status in the premier league for another year. If we finish just in the top 10, that is an absolutely immense achievement.

Hope we get all our players back from international duty, fit and with no injuries. We need to get three points from this on to cushion us from a potential lean spell. Then we can push on after Christmas to secure our premier league status.
