  1. I am not trolling. I think MLG has a very strong argument, but I also believe strongly in safety first ! The Premier League must not be taken for granted. Also, as well as safety consider the rewards that each place is worth financially in the Premier League. I would rather we finish 12th in the league with no Cup than say 16th and with the FA Cup.
  2. It could happen and more to the point complacency about our league position makes it more likely. I would prefer us not 'to lose the punt for the pole'.
  3. I don't think NC is unrealistic about the team, I think talk of Europe was hype that he does not believe in this season. No, I think NC will be happy with a mid table finish. I bet the real disappointment has been the lack of impact of Gaston and Osvaldo.
  4. I have noticed this as well. Hope he is ok and keeps posting. We need characters like Alpine to add a bit of colour to the site !
  5. If we get 36 points we will in all likelihood be relegated. 40 points might be enough, but we should aim to be comfortably clear and that would be around 45 points. Our Premier status is what we need to preserve not a cup run or we could end up like the lot down the road !
  6. The 'balls up' against Sunderland was a clever tactical withdraw from a Mickey Mouse competition which would have proved a costly distraction from our small squad of effective players.
  7. and...
  8. Quite right. The 'Clappers' got carried away by the hype. I would expect our first objective was to stay in the Premier league and if possible finish mid table. IMO we will finish about 14th, but with a brief flirtation with the bottom 3, and I think that would be cause for celebration.
  9. More important to secure our Premier Status. Thing is, unless we win another 6 or 7 games our 'dream' season could turn into a 'nightmare'.
  10. You would think so. Certainly the next eight games we need to get the points in. If we don't then we will be looking at relegation which would be a major humiliation after all that was said about us in November ! I think we will finish around 14th
  11. We are if you are a bottom half team , but the top 6 have us sussed.
  12. We could get relegated and we need to get some points on the board to make sure we don't get drawn into the fight. People need to wake up and smell the coffee. We are not in as secure a position as the end of October and I can see us making heavy work to get over the 40 plus points tally. Mark my words !
  13. I think overall they will pick up more points than us.
  14. I would play the fringe players for this one. We won't win the cup and we need to concentrate on the league.
  15. I think the majority of Saints fans always had their feet firmly planted on the ground. The clappers got carried away. The winnable games coming up will define our season not losses to Chelski Arsenal etc. The only game that was disappointing in our last 8 was against Villa, all the others were very much as expected and the result against Man City and the Geordies a bonus.
  16. Hull, Stoke, Swansea. Possibly WBA and maybe Villa
  17. The next 8 games are far more winnable. Pick up 15 points and we will be nearly home and dry as far as securing our premier status. If we keep that, then the manager stays. Survival is all that matters, always did, always will do.
  18. We wont be relegated because we have lost to the likes of Chelsea. We need to beat the teams immediately below us and the ones at the bottom of the league. I said that anything above 17th is fine and stick with my prediction of 14th to 16th. This will be fine for a second season.
  19. Kelvin looks good. The difference a 'confident' goalkeeper can make cannot be under estimated.
  20. We are not safe yet, selling Rickie to a rival club is madness.

    9/10 so far

    # True, and we need to get 4 or 5 wins under or belt to be sure of our Premier future. If we can do this by the end of February we can push on for a upper mid table finish. This would be astounding.
  22. You are obsessed. Adkins has gone. However, good you think Adkins was, it is time to time to leave it and move on. How long are you going to continue these Adkins obsessed posts, you are doing people heads in etc.
  23. A tonic when we needed it. Don't want to get drawn into the dogfight down at the bottom. As Alpine said, we need to get defence up to strength and get the goalkeeper sorted. Having said that, pleased for Gazzaniga, will do hos confidence good.
  24. The story is the manager. as I said feel sorry for MacKay and fans but it is 'dog eat dog'.
