Will people stop counting chickens, still a way to go !
-
Jeez, anyone else sweating !
-
People talking about all those teams below us must be mad, it is points that count. If Wigan win it is looking so close !

One mans 'depressive outlook; is another mans realism. Your view is as subjective as Alpine's. All I would say is that I am pleased that there is a rich tapestry of opinions on this site that makes it far more worthwhile than a site of bland consensus aka North Korea. -
Hope you are right. The thing is, in the 90's we were more often than not in Wigan's '**** or bust' scenario. We had great fight and spirit and so did the fans. We had this about 6 weeks ago but we simply 'switched off' too early and relied on the idea that results eslewhere would see us safe anyhow. Now we have to pick ourselves up and get back to work, which is always difficult as we have lost momentum.

Agreed. I think the club and supporters got ahead of themselves. I said at the time that it was far too early to publicly talk about new signings etc before we were safe. The way we approached the WBA game was all wrong and as someon siad on another thread, I would suggest that NA would not have allowed it to happen. I hope your wrong Alpine, but its all set up for what could be a great story for some and tears for us. Let's hope the Baggies don't screw us for the third time and if City are celebrating a cup win (or defeat), they approach the Norwich game without a hangover ! BTW I await another load of posts attempting to ridicule and lambast me in the usual manner -

Hmmm... a jubilant Man City against a fighting for their lives Norwich on the last day of the season ? -
Well said Alpine. I have been utterly lambasted in the last 4 weeks for predicting a scenario that has basically arrived.
-
This is the problem at the end of the season. If you listen to Fergy, he more or less admitted that the Manure players where a little less likely to be incisive. Think about it, if your team has achieved its aims, ie winning the league or safety, why risk injury and a summer spent on the treatment table. This is what worries me when you look at the Swans v Wigan and the Baggies v Norwich. In another sense Frenchcastle playing a QPR side who have absolutely nothing left to play for.

Amazing how this manager still urks the vocal minority. I suppose it is guilt for being instrumental in the clubs fall fromgrace and subsquent loss of a proud tenure in the top division. Obviously Hedgehog is feeling very guilty and ashamed of his actions.

Excellent post. Very balanced and thought out. Will keep referring to this as we go through the weeks. So first hurdle, 'Come on you Swans !' -

I am feeling the same as 4 weeks ago. People have caught up with the way I was thinking, that is, never take things for granted in football. We were always in a fight until we were mathematically safe. I never believed the 'we are safe' brigade. I have been right and now an avalanche of people have acknowledged my wisdom, just like they did over the 2004 debacle. -
Well done but I came to the same conclusion way before this and have been virtually hounded off the site. Similar to the 2004 debacle in may ways.
-
I think you have summed it up in nutshell. Never assume anything in football, that is why it is the greatest spectacle sport on earth. Furthermore, those who have followed Saints over the years would never dare such a thing like relegation is not a possibility until mathematically certain. The 'foolhardy' are quiet today.
-
Yes, and see if the Baggies turn up at Carrow Road and get a win, because I cant see them getting anything from Man City.
-
I would be prepared to say that a win a Sunderland would see us safe.
-
Are you ready to eat your words oh Great One ?
-
So, as I was saying 4 weeks ago. 1. We are far from safe. 2. 39 points will see us relegated. I was lambasted at the time but the evidence on this board has vindicated my views.
-
Maybe relegated on 40, safe 41, def relegated on 39

Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

If we beat Sunderland I promise to 'shut up' just like I promised to 'shut up' a couple of summers ago when I was told that the signing of Hooper from Celtic was a 'done deal' and that Wurzel would lead us to the top six. -
Not many 'told you so's' only a few were prepared to stand up and warn of the above.
-
I prefer where we are but 4th from bottom would do me after the final whistle on the last day of the season WHEN ALL THE GAMES ARE COMPLETE.
-
Well, I certainly hope we don't have to put your '39 points will be safe' theory to the test.
