IMO our transfer activity for January is over with the signing of Lee. That was it.

Honestly, the team have performed way above expectations. But, does anyone really think that we had any more ambition than consolidation this season ? Once you accept this, and our modest investment in players both in the summer now is proof of this, it is easier to be happy with a final position of around 17th !

As expected we have made very little impact in the transfer market which mirrors our modest actions in the summer. I see no serious evidence of an ambition to get promoted and everything points to a slide down the table.

The squad still looks very thin with some suggesting that we still have quite a few injured players. Will be a tough game tomorrow !

Your first point is a bit odd, I have never overlooked Hooiveld, and my point is more than fair. I agree Lee is all but signed and he could be a great buy, but equally he is more of an unknown quantity than some of the players in the UK leagues. NA has said there will be more transfers....maybe.

Hoover, technically yes, but not really a new signing as he has been playing for a while. Has Lee been signed ? Couldn't see any official notification.

If we don't strengthen in the window, then I think this is confirmation that NA was always see the season as one of consolidation, which is what I said all along.

I think we have a very good nucleus of a team. They have done brilliantly but are understandably worn out and some key players have picked up injuries that they may still be carrying. In short, we could have done with a bit more strengthening over the summer if we had been serious about promotion. The January transfer window is our last chance to strengthen the squad but as I have said many times I am not sure we have the resources or the ambition to do so this season. My hunch is that the management will be happy with a mid table finish, which would have been enough for most at the start of the season, but will disappoint many after the great start. Now, I think that is a reasonably balance post, but like hypo and Alpine have found I expect a load of abuse from certain posters !

I'm afraid that is how I see it. Always happens. Grandfather has a hobby, like a yacht, children not interested, sale takes place. I agree with your sentiments exactly. Possibly the Liebherr's are waiting to see the outcome of the season. If we get promoted they could even get some of their money back even if we stay up for one season.

At £150k he could be our big investment to push for mid table mediocrity.
