OK, lets get back on thread. Quite a few posters claimed we were close to signing Hooper. Presumably they had good evidence to support their claims. What was the main obstacle to him coming or do you think it was all in peoples imagination ?
-
Thankyou. BTW it is Dalek ! For one last time I am not a troll !
-
If they were Saints fans they are idiots. Putting theie own personal vendetta before the good of the club. No doubt the same rabble that kicked off about the possible re-appointment of Hoddle in 2004 and look what that led too !

Dr Who Appreciation Society. Kept the flame burning during the bleak days of the 1990's. Obsessively bombarding the BBC to bring back the Daleks. Apparently the BBC became fed up of 40% of all enquiries being about the minute detail in Dr Who eposodes !

Seaborne back in "training environment" on Monday

Good news indeed. I suppose it is a warning for all players to choose your place of leisure carefully. Not like the old days when the players used to nip down the pub after the match aka Jack Chalrton ! -
Point taken and very well put indeed. Or you a member of DWAS ?
-
I would appreciate the same if you don't mind. BTW I am happy that you have an opinion, but it annoys me when people change their opinion without ever admitting to it. It's like the boys in the playground, changing their teams to the latest flash in the pan, hoping people will forget their history. Or, the football shirt 'changers'

If it happens I will have to self destruct. Trouble is the daleks always have a habit of coming back in a different form and from a different time zone. So Dalek in name but different type of Dalek.
-
That's how I look at things. Even if we lost the next 5 in a row, which i think we may well, we should have enough points in the bag to finish comfortably. I think NA should use the 2nd half of the season top prepare a team that will finish in the top 6 next season.

Never happens with saints, fans won't let it, especially successful ex managers.

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..
Dalek2003 replied to SB's topic in The Saints
Hahahaha LOL at all those people predicting all the activity in the Jan transfer window. Ain't goint to happen and never was. Told you that back in June. Mid table was our aim....nothing more. -
Make that 9 ! Oh, by the way have we signed Hooper yet as I promised to self destruct if we had not that i thought it was ever likely !
-
Note how decisive they were in the summer transfer. Lambert had the players in mind and wanted them early so they picked up the ethos and knew what was wanted. Saints faffed around all summer and in the January window !
-
As someone mentioned its like the summer again, 'Groundhog Day'. As I predicted 17th, anything above makes me feel positive ! I do think consolidation was the aim and i am sure that is what we will achieve !

There is no room for sentiment in football. If he is good enough and get it right on the pitch then this will be best for SFC. hopefully some of the vocal minority will have learnt their lesson from 2004. Had they buried the hatchet with Hoddle, which the overwhelming Saints fans had done, we would not hav e had the debacle of the following three years. The Dalek says forgive, forget, move on !

NC is going for promotion this season, isnt he ?
Dalek2003 replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Interesting looking at my posts. I haven't changed my tune and I reckon my early posts are not very wide of the mark either ! -
Agree with the idea of 'see how we do' strategy. I think the management expected us to rub along mid table and made an error of judgement.
-
That's the Norwich way and very effective it has proven to be. I pointed this out last June but was told throughout June, July and August that there would be significant signings by the end o f the month, the week, the last day and even the last hour. The posters then changed their tune to say it was never part of the plan. Of course our great start allowed them to ridicule my way of thinking....but whose laughing now ?
-
A lot of people barking up the wrong tree. NC plan this season was for consolidation. We were never going to bust the bank this season and the club has to do things in a sustainable way. Our great start probably took NC by surprise and then the expectations of some of the fans rose to an unreasonable level. We have not really spent much in the jan window and as I said countless times the Hooper bid was never going to come off but fooled the fans in thinking that we were at least serious about strengthening the squad. We are second, had a fantastic start and lower mid table is where we will finish. You heard it from the Dalek first (back in August), and you know I am once again going to be proved supremely right !
-
Well, you can say what you like. I predicted 17th back in August and I stand by it. We will lose our next five for a start.
-
Well I did warn everyone this would happen. Not only is NA likely to repeat his S****horpe slump, the real indicator for our season was a lack of ambition and urgency in the summer transfer market. I see more and more people have come around to my way of thinking. I predicted the collapse of the club when we failed to appoint Hoddle in 2004. I am about to be proven right yet again.
-
Once again I am proven right.
-
Just update that to 'the last 9 suggest...
-
Criticism of NA this early into his managerial career for Saints is ridiculous. He has had a great start but the squad has run out of team and picked up injuries. To some extent this was predictable, but not NA's fault. By August it was obvious we were not going to spend big to build a squad for promotion and I still maintain that this season was all about consolidation. No, NA has done a great job and unless we are relegated he has my support !

You have been around log enough to know ! Don't get me started.
