Koeman is a great manager, no doubt about it. He was worth paying £5 million a year even if for just one more season. Saints board have made a very bad judgement in letting him go. Dare I say it, on a par with appointing Sturrock instead of Hoddle in 2004.

Well, I suppose the bestest have to have an off day. Still, they are storming into the play offs in joint first, sort of.
-
Leicester go one up. Hled on to their best players and strengthened. Yep, they have shown ambition.
-
Didn't think we would. This is a side show to the Premier League. We showed no intent in the summer at strengthening the squad. It was obvious we had no ambition for Europe.
-
Love to see Pelle back, but unlikely.
-
Are we likely to play our strongest team or give some of the players on the edge of the squad a chance ? I'm thinking about the vital match against Swansea coming up.
-
CB Fry always does this. He won't change.

I can see your point. If you spend big, put yourself in debt and the risk of relegation can be catastrophic. Because Saints are prudent we can spend enough to at least stay up and with a bit of luck finish in the top 10. Again because we are prudent, relegation would not be a catastrophe, indeed an opportunity to clear the decks. We could rebuild with young and inexpensive talented players. Once we get back in the PL we could then sell them at a massive profit to the likes of Liverpool. A good business model.
-
Your right. Less than 3 points against Swansea and we really do need to be batton down the hatches.
-
The Board would be happy with that, even if in public they say they would like to be more ambitious.
-
The Club has shown no ambition over Europe, absolutely none as reflected in our modest summer transfer dealings.
-
Just enough to keep us up ? 17th looks a good bet !
-
In the greater scale of things, beating Swansea is far more important. We must try and hold on to our Premier status. Europe and the Cups are side shows.
-
'Modern Football is Rubbish' ...to coin a phrase.
-
I think they are an equal team to Saints in terms of players so luck and tactics of the manager will play their part. Probably a draw.
-
I have been saying as much for years and been lambasted for saying so. No, I remain defiant. IMO staying in the Premier league keeps the money coming, 17th will do and anything else is a bonus. We are sailing close to the wind this year because the owners want us too.
-
That's the point. Have we got the right sort of fire power ? Not in panic mode yet, but selling three key players is the difference between 6th and 6th from bottom or worse.
-
We need to sell before we can buy.
-
I wouldn't say we are in a relegation fight yet, but if we lose to Swansea we could be heading for a battle to stay up.
-
Agreed, but why wasn't this addressed over the summer. By January we might be in deep **** !
-
A very determined display, which is good to see. A win against Swansea will calm nerves and build confidence. Anything less and we are in for a very hard season.
-
3-0 to the Arsenal. Next week we need 3 points as we are in for fight to stay up !
-
Hi there. Lots of thoughts. I agree with you broadly, but then is any player loyal to one team these days ? There are very few and I would say that Fonte has been a great servant of the club.
-
We are very lucky to have Jose Fonte and no-one would begrudge him a move. What normally annoys people is the fact that the Club do not have a replacement lined up of a similar standard. This is especially true of Mane and Wanyama.
