Exactly, an English centre back who has just won the league having played nearly all the games this season. I would have included Richards and Johnson as well as they've also just come off the back of a title win. Not so much Milner, we don't need anymore workhorses in the squad
-
It's not a rant, it's a post on a football forum. Where is the delusion in what I wrote. Does Andy Carroll have 4 league goals this season? Was there a massive clamour to get him to the Euro's before the FA cup final? Not that I can recall.
-
I'm not saying that Lambert should be there, but equally don't think that Carroll should be anywhere near the squad. He's a technically poor player and if there are 1-2 key chances in a game, you don't want them to fall to Carroll. I believe Lambert is a better player. Not because I support Saints, but beacuse it's obvious to anyone who doesn't have the short sightedness which so often influences big decisions. Fact is that we are taking a striker with 4 league goals, who is going on the basis of a 30 minute cameo in the FA cup.
-
I've heard countless Liverpool fans calling into radio shows bemoaning both Carroll and Downing. Many saying that Carroll at times doesn't even look like a professional footballer so I wouldnt be so sure of that.
-
No it wouldn't. Do you believe that Lambert will score less than 4 goals next season? Lamberts got more technical ability is his little toe than Andy Carroll will ever possess. It's just a shame that Rickie took so long in getting his act together in order to fully exploit his talents as time is no longer on his side. I would take Lambert any day of the week over him but what do I know, I'm just a deluded Saints fan.

Perfect opportunity to not select Terry and they ****ed it up! Woesfully short of striker options as well. Surely 5 forwards and 8 midfielders would have been better? And Andy Carroll FFS. 4 league goals all season and a couple of half decent performances in a couple of games is enough to play in major International tournament is it!?

Is that second expletive "wan k"?

I'm just happy that you now know how to spell intelligent. My work here is done. You would end up arguing with yourself if there were no one else posting on here.

Very good. So the FACT that we didn't sell out in 1984 depsite massive ambition and success shows that there is no relevance to the ambition of today as attendances were **** for most clubs throughout that time, yes?
-
But the subsequent attendance figures you use were as a result of the wider environment at the time and not because the club had a lack of ambition. Yes? No? FACT?
-
Quoting attendance figures from 27 years ago really doesn't add anything to the debate. It's almost as useless as the 2005 Bolton stat which we all know you hate. The fact that we averaged a higher attendance in league 1 as recent as last year only proves a point you're trying to argue against considering you are talking about a time when we were 2nd and had the European player of the year etc etc. Why did we average more in league 1 and not back then?

IMO the only point of discussion is how much we need to expand by. I think around the 38K mark should suffice. I'm not saying we will sell out every week but for big games we should sell out a stadium that size. Any business which turns customers away has an opportunity to expand. You can pick individual games in isolation but the fact remains that we did regularly sell out St Marys when we were last in the prem......yes not every game, but alot. If the club has more of an ambition to do more than just survive every year then the potential is even greater. Stay up over the next 2-3 years and I can see expansion being viable, as do the club, as do many fans.
-
No we don't. According to Turkish, if a stadium sells out then every single person who wanted a ticket got one. So if 36000 want a ticket, as long as they all try very very hard they will all get a ticket within St Marys despite it only actually holding 32,500. But that's neither here or there because Turkish knows that only a few people actually miss out on tickets when we do sell out. He knows this because he doesn't know anyone who hasn't been able to get a ticket and his wife worked at the ticket office 7 years ago and told him so.
-
If ever there were a made up OP, this is it. There is so much about this story which reeks of bull****. Well done lard you weirdo.
-
I've never said millions nor have anyone else from what I can see. Fair play to your sister. Glad he/she got a ticket for their efforts. But your logic is still flawed. If it didn't require hours of queuing, links to other games etc then there would have been a couple of 1000 more who would have gone even if they weren't prepared/capable of putting the effort it. If you genuinely believe that for every game we sell out there are only a few 10's of people who have missed out then that staggeringly stupid. And before you start, no I dont think we need a 55000 super stadium so that we can exploit our Barcaesq football in the CL. Just of the opinion that we have the potential to expand a bit more beyond our current capacity. But if your wife worked in the ticket office 7 years ago and says otherwise then I guess that settles it right?
-
Nope, a perfectly round number of 32.5K wanted tickets and got them.
-
Do you expect tamesaint to know every single person who couldnt get a ticket for those games? For certain games, at certain times we are well capable of filling a stadium with a larger capacity than St Mary's. You can deny it all you want but it's the truth. But carry on trying to belittle everyone who dares suggest that we might be capable of growing as a club as you seem to enjoy it so much.

Luckily for us, scouts tend to track players for months and don't make a judgement based on 1 or 2 games!
