Must be something in this, I've heard this from a couple of people now!

We're signing Demba Ba?

Noble art? I love boxing and as a sport it's a great discipline but it's always straddled the line between professionalism and WWF type hype. Rumble in the jungle, revered as one of the greatest fights put on.....promoted by a man who stamped a man to death, held in a country ruled by a ruthless dictator and hosted in a stadium which was also used as a slaughter house.

You can take data from multiple sources which can add weight to either side of the argument. Your example of Everton is fair enough but it is just 1 such example. There are probably others but there will also be clubs which are seeing the opposite trend. Televised games don't come for free either. A Sky Sports/ESPN package costs around 60 quid a month. A 600 quid season ticket will cost around 66 quid a month in comparison. I've never had a season ticket but clearly remember finding it difficult to get tickets for many games when we were in the prem. I can't see me strolling up to get tickets anytime I like like I have done over the last 7 years so easily in the future. Not whilst at St Mary's with it's existing capacity anyway.

Every match on TV? Don't think so. And besides, we regularly sold out when last in the prem, why would it change this time around?

Watch that price coming crashing down as the weeks go buy. No need for them to settle for less just yet. No way will anyone pay 8M for a championship striker in the final year of his contract. -
Prior to 2005 it really wasn't. Top flight for 27 years. A few last day relegation fights throughout the nineties tested the nerves. Hardly the disaster you talk of above. 2005-2009 was among the worst time for most Saints fans, young or old.

Whether or not anyone thinks it's neccessary, expansion or a move away seems to be on the agenda providing we stay up next year. As an established prem team, we've shown that 32K isnt enough. The only argument is exactly how much more capacity is needed. Personally I think 38-40K will be enough to meet demand for "big" games. Therefore, expansion seems like the most sensible option over a move away. Lots of talk that NC is would prefer to look at a move however so I guess we just need to watch this space.

He constantly puts pressure on chairmen to spend money. He's done it publicly at every club he's been at. Telling Levy via the media to pay Modric more and claiming that they need to spend more to make champs league this year and last are recent examples. Puts pressure on the chairmen as the fans then start to expect. Another one of his methods. Fair enough if you think he's the best choice but I think the guy is a bit of a fraud. He's a liar and seldom ever takes any responsibility for any failings. Always playing the poor old arry card.

Sorry but how would you know who the better "man motivator" is? For every player who claims that Harry is great, I'd bet youd find another who wouldn't have the same view. I'm sure that player that he tore to pieces in front of a television crew and cameras felt very motivated. For me, this great man manager nonsense is another myth peddled by the media. Harry's formula is tried and tested. Spend money whether the club can afford it or not, chuck a few players together an see what happens....and then jump ship at exactly the right time so that no finger can ever be pointed to him.

The HCDAJFU thread is just for the aimless guesses and ill informed opinions of all of us rather than actual confirmed interest in a player. Keep em seperate I say.

What are they for you? Mine are: 1) Connolly (boro at home) 2) Lee (derby at home) 3) lambert (Leeds away) Not too many absolute screamers to choose from this year
-
He's done absolutely f\/ck all but that doesn't stop him from lauding it up in the post promotion celebration pics from this year and last.
-
I'm sure some of them would quite like to play some football as well though. Could see a few out on loan rather than sold I guess.
-
A side from the obvious (and I think we can include Connolly) I think we could see Chaplow, De Ridder, Harding, one of Butters and Richardson, Seabourne and Barnard all leaving. Not sure about Puncheon, despite everything I think Adkins putting him on the last 10 mins on Sat quite telling. Would like to see Forecast released as I don't want to see his useless fat head in the celebration pictures when we win the FA cup next year ; )
-
Possibly would have done but it wouldn't be particulary embarrassing for anyone who was optimistic at the time as I'm sure most people would have acknowledged that it was possible that it might not so according to plan. However, I was willing to support NA and was encouraged by aspects of his CV at the time and there was a lot of support for NA in wider football circles. People like saint lard were never willing to acknowldege that as their beliefs were fuelled by ignorance more than anything else.
-
Not really. Most people who were optimistic about Adkins appointment didn't make big bold unfounded predictions about him definetly being a success, unlike some who were adament that he would be an unmitigated faliure just because he wasn't a "big name". Big difference.

Bantr.tv - 'Why The Saints Will Struggle In The Premier League'

The blogger is just a child, don't expect much intelligent insight. -
It wasn't too long ago that he was on here proclaiming that Adkins was still riding the crest of Pardews wave do I don't think much has changed.
-
My personal favourite saint lard moment was when he alluded to the fact that we would have been better off with Cotterill just before the start of this season.
-
I think he's just the type of player we need to add to our squad but, as you say, depends if he offers much value for money as many teams will be interested.
-
Unconfirmed rumour going around that Darren Fletcher has had to retire from football due to his condition. Sad at 28 but still got to play at the highest level, win trophies and earn millions.
