Premier League Experience - Required or Overrated?
Dig Dig replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Some prem experience wouldn't go a miss, and someone like murphy would be a great signing to add that. However, if a player is good enough then it shouldn't matter all that much. Players come from all over the place and show that they can do a job in the prem. A winning and strong mentality is more important IMO and I think our squad has that. -
You really are insane. Worrying that we've let a young CB go out on loan who has only played a handful of games. You really think we wont start the season with more than 3 CB's. Do you think our management are really that thick?

Is that David Moyes in the bush on the far left!?
-
Sorry everyone, can we stop talking about Rodriguez and get back to discussing weird posters from yesteryear?

Not to mention 18 year old academy players strolling around wearing rollexes and driving pimped out range rovers like they have played 200 premiership games. -
If a player goes down when there has blatently been no contact then that is cheating and I would hate to see our players doing that. However, sometimes players have to make more out of contact in the box which would be a foul anywhere else on the pitch. If decisions were fair and consistent in this regard than I think we would see a lot less "simulation".

Yea they pretty much just pick up on rumours already circulating. But no smoke without fire and all that..... But probably just bull**** agent talk.

They can't stand each other -
Yes, he had a decent season I don't deny that. However, he's not got much potential to develop (like Clyne) and his touch and distribution was often poor which put us under pressure on a number occassions. The team set up offered him plenty of protection and enabled him space to get forward and utilise his good delivery. He will be much more occupied on the defensive side next year IMO and for me, it's a position we should look to strengthen if the opportunity arises.
-
That's debatable. Shall we debate?
-
Richardson was just as poor and culpable for that goal. Isolated incidents a side, I think Guly has worked very hard for the team over the course of the season. NA deployed him on the right more often than not for this very reason.
-
The club are not stupid. There is no danger to us in loaning out a young CB who needs games in early June. I'm sure we have deals lined up for most positions.

Yes, IMO it's strange for any professional footballer to accept a bit part role for substantial period of time. My original response was specific to him joining City knowing that he probably won't get a sniff with Hart there. I never said that he shouldn't join another big or at least bigger side than Saints. But your examples have shown that it's not always a good move, most those players have had to drop down a couple of levels in order to rebuild their careers. Nothing is better than actually playing football.
-
Yes, it must have been nice for a professional footballer to play less than 10 times for their clubs over 5 or so years. Good job all those keepers developed exactly as expected and are now all England number 1, playing for top top sides in the champions league. But of course you're right because anything is better than playing for a club like saints.
-
Would be a strange decision for a young keeper to accept warming a bench for the foreseeable future.
-
was just thinking that!

So you believe that Jaidi was so slow because he thought he was actually running on sand at the time?
-
So the reference was in no way derogatory towards Jaidi and his country of origin? A statement which implies that Jaidi is unaware of the difference between grass and sand or that a professional footballer who has been playing in England for over a decade is only used to running in the sand because he's from North Africa is not in any way racist?

Offering Murphy a one year deal wouldn't be a bad idea. Bags of experience and a decent guy as well. Still has a lot to offer IMO. -
I'm going to be buying two when really I only need the one.

Documentary or not, would you travel to Euro 2012 if you were black or asian? Even the foriegn office are advising black and asians not to go and that was before last nights documentary. I know that only the worst aspects of the football/far right culture were shown but is it right that a major football tournament is held in countries where people of a certain race are activily discouraged from going?
