if we do manage to get up, you have a point - not sure. but for L1 he'd be a good squad player.
  2. sounds like he was thrown in at the deep end today, he played as their lone striker! ''Paterson - 4 - I hope this is purely him not gelling or not being suited to the 4-5-1 formation, should of scored that complete sitter. I actually wasn't even sure if he was playing from time to time. I will give him the benefit of doubt with this being his first game. But I also blame Tilson for not giving him a strike partner.''

really pleased to hear he did well. it was his big chance against MK Dons in midweek, he did pretty well i thought and took his chance with both hands. - pard's has been openly critical of him, saying that he's worried about his progress and may have to look to loan him. but he's shown the right response and a great attitude to put himself right in the frame again. He's always had talent, that's why man u were looking at him 4 years ago when he was a youth player.
  4. that's the one thing that frustrates me about Holmes, i think he's got good talent (fantastic crossing ability)...but his lack of pace is a worry, and in this day and age it's a pretty critical attribute if you want to be a real success as a wide man.
  5. great goalkeeping....(!) but good anticipation from antonio all the same. cheers for the clip

he's been pretty good in most games he's played this season IMO - even last season he was one of our better players. he's not the tallest - but he makes up for that with his superb positioning and reading of the game, i think he's our best defender in terms of reading of situations - he's got so much experience in that head of his - i'd also like to see him stay on next year as a squad player, i think he can do 1 more year...

he's a fantastic squad player and I'd keep him for next season too. (i think his contract is up in 2011?)
  8. i like him, but he really divides opinions up in leeds. he is their Wotton (in terms of how he's seen by their fans, not as in type of player) - I've seen threads on him on their forums (before we were due to play them) ''we wont go up with doyle in the team'' bla bla. I think they also used a term ''you're a doyle-lovey'' but as a neutral from the outside i can appreciate that he's a good player...
  9. http://www.twtd.co.uk/mb.php?m=v&t=29383#29383 fair play to the ipswich fans.
  10. First game I've missed in ages - gutted. great result though, ipswich are no pushovers, they've really picked up of late. tbf i think the team we have now would do better in the championship than the lot we had last season. I guess that's mainly down to the management though....! unbelievable that we've won this without the likes of fonte/hammond/harding/connolly etc - who are some of our best players. great times at the moment.
  11. Connolly is injured so won't start....lallana will start up top with lambert and holmes will be at left mid. Thomas will be at RB - Jaidi in at CB to Partner perry, and mills (who isnt and never will be a RB) will not play if harding is fit. but other than that, spot on by them!
  12. he's a snip! 175k for a player who has hit 17 goals this year (14 last year). still can't get over how cheap he was tbh.
  13. fair point tbf.
  14. he rejected leeds - even better.
  15. it's not a loan, he moved on a free transfer.
  16. ''he has scored 37 goals in 69 starts'' - nice ratio there.
  17. at the moment, yes. Barnard is a proven player at this level (has scored double figures at this level for the past 2 years) and is at a good age. Patto may turn into that - but who knows? he's not quite ready for us. He's still got alot to prove to be compared with barnard.
  18. he needed the move though, he strikes me as a lad that is happy to just carry on without change (he refused loan deals earlier) - but IMO he needs this change to kick-start his career. i'm sure he'll turn out to be a good player - it's a shame it isn't a loan deal, but never mind. i wish him all the best - i'm sure he'll score goals at this level.
  19. they've only just announced that they're 110m in debt ffs. who on earth would warrant that kind of wage? If it's Ruud, i'd pay him 40k max...given his recent injury record.
  20. Just rehashing some old news from this week. basically we've made an improved offer today, which has been accepted. leeds have had one too, but he rejected them. if this doesn't go completely and utterly tits up, we'll see it on the OS tomorrow.
  21. You're right, he's not fast southend's view on him - ''Had a good debate with my mate yesterday about Barnards worth. Ignoring the fact he is out of contract in a few months, how good is he? I'll start by saying despite what I put below, I do like Barnard and would rather have him in the team that not for sure! Cons 1) Cannot hold the ball up well, normally bounces off him 2) Not particularly quick 3) Not capable of the truly spectacular (ala Eastwood/Collymore) goal out of nothing. 4) Liable of being injury prone 5) Hasnt got top drawer movement Pros 1) In good form - is it permanent or temporary? 2) Good in the air for his height 3) Doesnt mind putting himself around 4) Willing worker 5) Good attitude You certainly wouldnt put him in the Eastwood/Collymore class obviously, I would also put Angell and Benjamin above him. With the form he is in, could he be likened to a Carruthers or Constantine? I.e. in a spell, looked very good front men - but couldnt sustain it. I find it crazy personally that 'big' clubs are chasing him and some people on SZ expect him to go for around half a million!!? My own view is that he is worth around £150,000 - £200,000 in this contract situation and if he had a couple of years left, then maybe £300,000-£400,000 absolute tops.''
  22. by the sounds of the twitter feed, we went back with an approved offer which has been accepted.
  23. #Saintsfc Boss Alan Pardew tells BBC Radio Solent Adam Lallana needs to fluff his wings up a bit and show a little more belief in himself
  24. Team news for Saturday - #Saintsfc have Radhi Jaidi back for FA Cup tie v Ipswich. Seaborne,Otsemobor,Fonte,Hammond,Connolly,Schneiderlin all definitely out. good news to have Radhi back
  25. complete snip if true, 17 goals at this level in a team that isn't doing amazing, can't be shrugged at.
