Munto Finance v Markus Liebherr (Notts County v Saints)
S-Clarke replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Well this has been a pretty emphatic win for markus. it shows we're doing it the right way "Notts County is on the market, Munto Finance are seeking to dispose of the club and are in contact with some potential buyers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/8405269.stm -
interesting, just found the link - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1234340/Under-QPR-manager-Jim-Magilton-faces-axe-headbutt-Akos-Buzsaky-threatens-press-charges.html

something may have gone on in the background, but for a club with supposed ''mega rich'' backers, they are making a hell of a mess of that club. Magilton is their 4th manager in 2 seasons i think. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/q/qpr/8403668.stm

If they come out of the other end of this, with no points deductions or punishments, then football is screwed. They shouldn't be able to get away with what they did. They're not in this position for any other reason than chasing the dream, very similar to leeds. I'm sure in comparison they spent the same amount as Leeds did a few years back (maybe even a bit more) If they do go down, i have no doubt that they'll be a complete train wreck. The worry is that they do stay up - as the premiership these days is full of utter dross. You do not need to be superstars to stay up this season.

and Kettering have just equalized at Elland Road...should be an interesting end to the match.
-
3-0 Luton now, game over i would have thought.
-
by all accounts, Huddersfield should have won there on Saturday quite emphatically. they hit the bar 3 times and only conceded the goals through 2 goal keeper slips. they do look like they're walking the league, but if there is any team in the league to match them, it's us IMO.

the new owner, from what i can tell, isn't in it for the good of the club - he wants to make a quick buck and has now become aware that in order to do that he needs to put lots of money in. I mean you'd have to be stupid to invest any money into that club at the moment. Looks destined for relegation, low crowds, loans taken out left right and centre. They're sailing very close to the wind, not just in terms of admin, but complete liquidation imo.

...and justin gladis (i think thats him?) who is on the PA before matches, a couple of weeks ago gave them a free plug too...''good afternoon, and welcome to the friends provident st mary's stadium...''

Cortese offers you £5m on Jan 1st...what would you do?

spot on IMO. Our first 11 when fully fit is very very good for this level, bar maybe just 1 addition. but as you said, if we lose lambo then what? Or Lallana...hammond....morgan? we're really struggling then for real quality replacements. that's what leeds have over us atm, they have real depth on the bench, with prutton, micheal doyle, vokes etc. -
Correct me if im wrong...but i think the Dome was always there before the redevelopment a few years ago, but what SCW and co added was an extension on the end, which included a players lounge, new gym (including the eye gym lol...) and the infamous fish tank there was a tour of it on the old saints player, but that's long gone now.
-
i guess we've looked into the possibility of expanding, as we were keen on a world cup bid - but i cannot imagine that will be done until we look like we're heading for the premiership. (i.e top 6 championship...)
-
Hopefully we can get a decent fee for him. I think he should be valued between 300-500k, he's still got 2 years on his contract too.

1 step at a time we're still in the bottom half of L1 and alot will need to change for us to become a sustained prem. club again, not just a top 10 club...but a sustained bottom half club. The prem. has changed so much since we were last in it, to the point where teams like Stoke and Hull are having to shell out 20 odd million just to achieve safety. There's a long way to go yet, but we'll make it eventually. These guy's will not fail.

An article in today's Times suggests that PFC will incur a minus 10 point penalty from the Premier League at the end of this season, and a minus 27 point penalty at the start of next season imposed by the Football League. Has anyone else read this? It just gets from bad to worse. Wouldn't surprise me tbf, they need a proper investigation into the finances there as so much dodgy **** has gone on - surley on par with Luton.
-
How come? This season we're far less frustrating and much more consistent. In 2006 we used to go and win 3 on the bounce...and then loose to southend or colchester, and i think we all knew in our hearts of hearts that it was win or bust that year. This is such a better feeling because you know we are safe, we can just keep growing and keep getting better from now on. There is no longer that pressure of having to sell off a good team after a good season.

ignore...double post!

Those images do look really impressive, having those sort of facilities in L1 is amazing really. It's funny that portsmouth still haven't got a training ground....and we are going ahead to redevelp our existing one, in L1.
-
Was waiting for this to start, apparentley Nicola/Markus will be making a huge invesment in the training and acadamy structure. I believe the ''lodge'' for the acadamy is also moving to the training ground site.

Who is your player of the season so far?
S-Clarke replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Lallana has improved his consistency more than anything. But i'd say the most improved player overall is Morgan. He seems to have added an extra ''bite'' to his game, he went messing way too much last season and even in the early parts of this season - but he's improved so quickly. -
It's even more impressive that we've only had 2 defeats in the last 16 league games (or 18 games if you count the cup exploits) no getting away from it - this is league winning form (just a shame we had the - 10 start...!)

I'm going to go for Hammond - he may not stand out as much as the others with goals/asists etc (but his goal count is quite healthy) - but you cannot hide away from the complete turn around in results since we've had him in the middle. just checked the stats - since his debut against brentford (16 league games ago) - we've only lost 2 games! thats unheard of! -

I feel sorry for Cork - he needs to have a loan to a team that's winning and playing well, he seems to be attracted to poor-relegation threatened sides.
