10 wins in 13 games - not bad at all! (and only 1 defeat) that's probably top 2 form in any normal season.
-
that's the beauty of him, no one has a clue what he's going to do next. He's such a random player , but he creates an outlet that gets us in behind (ala the first goal). But he really really needs to work on his offside - it's getting a bit silly now...!
-
When pard's first came here, he said - ''Morgan has probably got more ability than anyone else in this league, but he needs to impose himself and get to grips with the style of football'' ....well, he's done it. A real gritty midfield display from him today, winning tackles, winning headers and generally in the thick of it. The beauty is that when he's in space, he often plays a perfect pass. We're lucky to have him and at last we have a manger who appreciates him and understands how to use him! (same can be said of lallana)
-
As i said in another thread, he looked a bit laboured to me - maybe he's carrying a knock? hasn't looked the same player as a few weeks back.
-
Tom Craddock at Luton i believe. but lambo is well worth £1m. Another goal tonight, should have had a few more too - but seemed to keep delaying his touch. He did seem to really labor in the later part of the game too, he still looks like he's carrying some sort of knock as he's not as ''mobile'' as he has been before.
-
Not the best of games - but we did deserve to win, if we weren't' so wasteful (and didn't keep taking one touch too many) we could have had a few more tonight. Wycombe didn't really offer too much threat, other than a late surge in the final 15mins - but we were pretty comfortable i have to say. I thought our midfield was good tonight, esp. Morgan who has ''dirted'' himself up. He's no longer this mercurial french man who goes missing in the ugly games...he was well up for it. Lallana was busy again, floating around with some great touches. Special mention to perry too - i thought he was excellent, made a couple of fantastic saving blocks and tackles and reads the game superbly. I wouldn't play that pairing against pace though tbh.... but what a great feeling - we're out of the bottom 4 and actually clear by a point or 2 - now we can really start forgetting about struggling and look higher and higher. let's keep winning!

Personally for me any method of promotion is an achievement, if we go up after scraping 6th spot on goal difference - that's fine with me! We won't just stay up, we'll probably be 15-20 points (maybe more) clear around Easter time, we've got way too much quality to be down there for long. for me, between 8th - 12th will be a solid season for me. If we finish bottom half mid-table then that's not great.

Competition: My advice to Alan Pardew is ...

didnt' know that! oh well. can't see george boyd coming here. he's a top championship player IMO, would command a fee of 2.5m +. Has already scored something like 12 goals this year. -
the target should be to win as many games as possible, so that includes all the cup games. Pard's has the same idea - we need to work on installing a winning mentality right through this club, it has been missing for so long. We may come up slightly short to do anything in the league this year, but it will hold us in fantastic stead to just storm it next year. This year is all about laying the foundations and finding the right mentalities. ...but that only comes from winning lots of games!

GOAL : No changes, unless Kelvins injury is worse than first anticipated. If so...poke back from Torquay. DEFENCE : I think we're now looking at alternatives to Trotman, i've got a hunch he would like to play at a higher level and PNE can offer him that now. Pard's will go in for Elliott Ward for a fee (probably under £1m) MIDFIELD : I think Mellis will stay with us until the end of the season, he's a nice attacking option to have. I'd also sign Jimmy Abdou from Millwall, very impressive deep sitting midfield player, scored the equalizer for Millwall at St Mary's and swept up v well. Millwall aren't flush with cash at the moment, so i'd expect a bid of around £1m should get him. Leeds tested the water in the summer. STRIKERS: We'll sign a striker on loan - possibly from low end premiership/top end championship. I think it'll be someone with a bit of power and pace to compliment the likes of Connolly and Lallana. A name that springs to mind is Marcus Bent -
That's what i think people are getting at. He's 'raw' to this league and i think that can work to our benifit. He's not the greatest footballer ever by any means, but he's good enough to be a top player at this level.
-
Slightly OTT imo it did start off as harmless, it's only become this argument because of yourself and others getting worked up about it. i go back to what i said previously...if you don't want to see it, you don't have to look at it.
-
exactly, it's fine. If people don't like reading it, then why post on it? jesus, i never knew we could make an argument out of a great run of form.
-
i wasn't, no. but we won, if we play crap and still win - so what? we're not going to be perfect every week. At the end of the day, if we were playing fantastic..and loosing, I'd be more concerned.
-
There was nothing wrong with this thread - but then it was filled up with people disagreeing and making arguments when there shouldn't be any to make. We're in great form, scoring lots of goals and winning lots of games. Seriously, what the bloody hell is there to moan about?
-
I agree with Papa starting. He hasn't set the world alight, but he's got that unpredictability about his game - the oppo don't even know what he'll do next!
-
that is an amazing stat - doesn't look believable until you add it all up!
-
it will look even better if we can add another 3 wins to it...starting on tues.
-
that's the main thing for me - for a striker that scores so many goals, he's so unselfish. if he doesn't score he's often laid on 2 goals for the other lads...just a terrific all-round centre forward. He really is too good for this league, it just seems all a bit easy for him at times.

Saints vs Rotherham or Luton - 3rd Round Draw Thread

quite a good draw IMO. we should win, into the 4th round...and not many L1 clubs manage that. -

rotherham or Luton at home.... -
i expect us to beat wycombe tbh, i'll be disappointed if we don't. If we play to even half our best, we'll be too good for them. Wallsall is a tricky one, they've got a tricky/pacey striker up top in Byfield...and i always get nervous when pace attacks our defense...
-
obviously keeping tabs for January, i expect us to be attracting some decent players in jan.
-
more like - it's a real boost, but don't tell anyone

3 points adrift at the bottom...and 7 points adrift from safety. they'll be going into december on single points -lol Big game against burnley next week, fail to win that and it's all over imo. Although i fear they will, as burnley are an abysmal side
