  1. There's a chance to buy, but I'm sure if he has a storming season here then he's going to get some fairly bigger suitors than us! Enjoy him whilst he's here.
  2. He's a Lovren level player. Fully prepared for him to only be here for the year.
  3. I think we're seeing that the team unit we had last year was much bigger than any of the individuals.
  4. Lovren getting ripped apart at HT. Oops.
  5. "Our fans were difficult today, chanting my name from the start. It sort of affected our spirit. It worries me" AP tells @bbcnewcastle #NUFC Good night pards.
  6. We were brilliant today, right from the off - a real pace and intent in all area's of the pitch. In many ways it was a complete mirror of last years home win against Newcastle, and if we're still that good after selling £100m of players, then our scouting and management set-up deserve some incredible praise. What impressed me more than anything were the dynamics of the final third, always moving, always probing...in many ways, the threat and intent in that area is better than last year. We have mid fielders who are no longer afraid to get forward, and somehow...he's managing to get goals from Cork and Morgan consistently! Special mention to Toby who I thought was utter class. We've basically replaced Lovren with a Lovren-level player, there's nothing between them. His reading and positioning of the game was of a very, very high level and he is a huge coup for us - even though it's just a loan. Pelle lead the line brilliantly once again, he's really grown from the goal he got at Millwall and looks a different player now. They couldn't handle him in the first half, too strong and too much guile which was opening them up time and time again. Based on the start we've made, we look utter class. It's obviously a little too early to get carried away just yet and start predicting etc, but IF we carry on with the level of performance and continue the intent in our attacking play as we've shown then we can have a very good year - too early to say how good though! Really pleased and a nice way to carry on some real momentum since the WHU game.
  7. Which would suggest that they're knee-jerk reactionary idiots, with no sense of perspective.
  8. Lovren was as permanent as Toby.
  9. Not sure why everyone is so worried about next season. We have a good player with us for a year, and if he does as well as people 'fear', then it will probably equate to us having a pretty damn fine season.
  10. Peaked a while ago. Nothing but bog average.
  11. Good clinical game from Wellbeck, Lambert doing the job from the bench that he's going to be doing a lot this year! Very clever hold up and pass to be fair. Still think our final third efforts improved once Wiltshire was off. Slows the play too much.
  12. I'm not sure who you really buidl the midfield around to be honest! All very average. Could just wait for a few years and build the team around Liverpool's midfield pairing of Reed and JWP.
  13. Could have been good, but won't ever be now. I doubt we'll ever know how much the injuries have limited his game, but he's a shadow of the player who was on the scene at 18. Bit of a boring player who never seems to do anything.
  14. Happens all over the world. In fact Medicals are often included before fee's are done.
  15. Mexico have some class players, a fair few better than what England have to offer that's for sure. For example tonight, I'd have Rodriguez, Linchenstiner and Inler in that England team without a thought. I think we're just bog standard average, just playing at a level that reflects the players current limitations and lack of real flair. It doesn't help though when the managers clear dour and slow demeanour rubs off on the team, which it has done. We could do more with this group, maybe not amazing things, still more definitely. But if we're honest it's still a scary lack of quality to choose from for an England football team.
  16. Heat of the moment quite clearly, but probably felt that he'd had a good relationship with club and fans for the last 6 years, and their 'block' (or whatever you want to call it) had the potential to sour it. In the end, he's knuckled down, sorted his head out (and found it) and has started the season very well. He'll go within the next 10 months, easily, but at least he's shown a degree of professionalism in the end.
  17. I'm sure there was an agreement in place between all parties, but after the club saw the reaction from the Chambers sale, and probably the reaction from Koeman they pulled it. I'm pretty certain that from his reaction ''6 years destroyed etc'' that something had been agreed, and we'd pulled the plug. That's how I see it.
  18. Lol @ Delph playing for England. The players on show out there wouldn't even be in the 'pool' of players 5/6 years ago. Ignoring how ineffective they were for England, there isn't anyone with the class and pedigree of Gerrard and Lampard anywhere near - which is sad. Beckham, Scholes, Owen, Neville, Cole, Rio, Campbell, Terry......at their time, leading players in world football. We don't have a single player who is leading in anything. Just decent, bog standard average players. Desperate stakes, and utterly depressing viewing.
  19. That's fantastic. Got to admire the ambition there! However, I think once he does a quick google of Basingstoke and looks at some pictures, he may have a few doubts ( ! )
  20. This was based on a report I read, but apparently Hull's offer was a £3m loan fee and they are also covering 100% of his wages. Would be a pretty impressive deal if that is it.
  21. Because it should have happened. Note the in my opinion bit at the end too.
  22. Pretty sure we're set for 4 at the back this year. Although personal wise, we're better equipped to execute it than Utd currently are.
  23. Newcastle are a funny one. Can look excellent one day, and get absolutely bulldozed by a team the next. Pardew is probably on dodgy ground there, to be honest - can't see him lasting the season, let's just hope they don't sack him during the international break.
  24. The PR stuff at the start was a bit of a contradictory mess, but the club learnt from it. Notably by rather quickly pulling Ralf away from it I think the whole setup was very naive at the start, nothing more sinister than that tbh. Right intentions, poorly executed.
  25. Or Saint George whathisname, suggesting he is the reason we didn't sell Morgan and Jay. If he hadn't have spoken up, god knows what would have happened. Forever in our debt.
