  1. I would be happy with Depay, a lot of pace and quality that we're missing in certain area's at the moment - but he's probably slightly out of our level at the moment. Using my football manager geekness here, but what is Luciano Narsingh like in real life? Seems to have bags of pace and skill, could be an option.
  2. They will play on the break with the pace and power of Berihino and Anichibe I reckon. and rely a lot on the midfield doggedness of Mulumbu and Gardner. Will be a slog I reckon. Won't get too down hearted or excited whatever the outcome though.

  4. Yep, same. Also has a similar feel to the Sunderland home game last year, 2nd game of the season as well I think? Drew 1-1 with a last minute header from Fonte I believe, that was a damn slog against what was at that point, and utter utter dog **** Paulo Di Canio team.

  6. He didn't have the best angle to be honest, he was being closed down very quickly. Davis was in the much better position and he should have made more of it. JWP made the right decision.

  8. Not sure Depay is too realistic for us! I think James really came into his own when it was tactically altered in the 2nd half, he was moved just behind Pelle and got much more involved in an advanced role. In the first half he was a lot deeper and didn't have the space to operate in. I wonder if we finally have a manager who is able to get the best out of James? I think in space with the ball, he can cause all sorts of issues as he's agile has a very good brain and is technically very gifted....but throwing him into a congested midfield 3 isn't always the best for him, so allowing him to roam in an AMC position may bring out a side of the game we've not yet seen from James.

  10. Ah ok, it was him that caused Leighton Baines a few probs then!

  12. Is this the case of a player becoming better when he's injured/not playing? Don't get me wrong, I think Gaston is a talent, but what on earth has he ever done at Southampton to be suggested as a starter ahead of Davis?

  14. I think we can all see the ambition now. When we looked like a for sale board, people were worried....but we've spent more in this transfer window than we have ever spent in our history. Ok, we received a lot of money, but the ambition has to be there in order to reinvest. She could have quite clearly pocketed all of that money, but we've built a new squad with it and are still floating around with £10m bids for players. The ambition is clearly there, just not in the unsustainable way it was before. That will upset some people and will cause them to start throwing their dummys out, but for a club like us, it's the only way. Cortese dangled a carrot in front of the players and fans, and then did a runner when he realised he wasn't able to use someone elses money anymore. If there's anyone I haven't got any respect for, it's Nicola flaming Cortese. Painted as a god for building a house of cards.

  16. He had a sloppy game in some aspects, but I do like Davis. For me he's one of the first names on the team sheet, but for some reason he's always the player people seem to pass up on just to get Gaston shoe-horned in there! He's a leader and an organiser. He will be key for how we do this year.

  18. Quite like how Chelsea are doing things lately, they've managed to get some damn good fee's for the likes of Luiz and Luaku too - making a profit on what were squad players for htem! I think they even made a profit on De Bryune who went back to Germany for £16m I think. They've shifted Lampard and Cole off the wage bill, two of the biggest earners, and have improved their team right down the spine on the back of it, and haven't had to spend a great deal to do it. Shrewd stuff. Will be interesting to watch them tonight, think they'll be pretty handy.

  20. I think Gonzalez played for Uruguay at right back during the world cup. If it was him, I have memories of him causing a few issues for Leighton Baines in the group game. Possibly because their regular right back Pereira decided to get sent off in the first game.

  22. Their priorities are Kevin Strotman, Aturo Vidal, Benita (apparently) and Rojo. But there's every doubt that 'Ed' will fail to get a single one of those over the line.

  24. S-Clarke

    Forster

He had very little to do, truth be told. Can't really read a single thing into his performance. His distribution looked ok, but he was rarely troubled.
