Isla can play as a DM, WBR, WBL or general MR/ML type. Probably the highest quality ''jack of all trades'' we can attract. Would be an epic squad addition. (would play most weeks as well, would have him as a wing back myself!)
-
Assuming with the interest from other clubs, it was seen imperative to just focus on this and get this over the line.

Can we go for an old fashioned 11pm announcement? I think by starting this thread, I pushed this signing through. Result for me. Maybe I'll start a Lukaku thread just for the fun. (or not)
-
He's not reported back to training, first day he contacted the club to say he was ill - but then pictures of him in LA surfaced, he still hasn't returned back. If we get rid of him on a free it's a good deal. Horrific person.

Saints reject bid from Cardiff for José Fonte
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
To be honest, based on the total squad annihilation we're seeing this summer, players like Fonte and Cork are in short supply - and we need to keep them longer-term. We just need to replace Lovren, and that will be that. -
I think we want him for sure, but I don't think the club feel he's worth what Feyernord want. - which I'd tend to agree with. £10m for a 29 year old, unproven in a top league, is a hell of a gamble IMO. I'm sure both clubs will reach an agreement in the end, but Feyernord won't get exactly what they want IMO.

An example of how a sponsor can ruin a shirt IMO.....
-
Pretty good move for him really. Big club, fantastic atmospheric stadium and an awesome City to live in......nice career wind down!
-
From people I have spoken to, a family member who is randomly a PSV Supporter (long story, don't ask), said at the initial interest.....''Not a chance, he's big club bound'' and now, as he's on the brink of signing ''Not sure how you've done it, he's every bit as good as some of the best play makers in Europe." Described him as a play maker, number 10 style, rather than a winger - but can operate either side. He doesn't rate Pele though, described him as more of an Altidore than a Bony.....uh oh!
-
He just browses this forum all day. I imagine there will be an ''EXCLUSIVE'' story shortly regarding the imminent transfer of Tadic.
-
I'll be there, I hope. To watch the brilliant last minute own goal by either Lallana or Lovren to gift us a 1-0 win. That would be pure theatre.
-
I think that's a near on impossibility to do, tbh. It's not like a loan, they're buying them outright and we're then telling them that the player they've just spent £25m on cannot play in 2 games next year........that would cost us a few bob, I'm sure!
-
He was, but left 3 years before Watson got there. Ben Foster was the GK he coached whilst at Birmingham. Could be a link there, and maybe the tabloids have got Forster and Foster mixed.
-
That's why everything will be undisclosed.
-
Butland has been a very long-term target for us - maybe him...? A year as an understudy to Boruc before becoming our first choice?
-
Liverpool. We signed him today, but they've now put a bid in and lured him away. p.s - cheers for the info Steve. I believe your source is a good one, so this is almost done I'd say!

http://www.footballnewsuk.co.uk/news/west-ham-shock-bid-steven-gerrard.html Umm, not sure if this is a parody site or not. I think we should put a bid in for Gerrard, Sterling and Agger and tap their players up.
-
Other way round for me - Marshall would be brilliant. Good age, proven at this level to be a tremendous shot stopper. Why do you fancy Forster instead, out of interest?

Here is the link - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2682598/David-Marshall-leave-Cardiff-City-Southampton-Ronald-Koeman-prepares-8m-bid-goalkeeper.html

Both very good options, TBH. Marshall was one of the best GK's in the league last year, statistically. TBH he did have to make the most saves! I think we're all crying out for some decent substantial links to players.
-
Cannot interpret any of that.
-
Liverpool should man up.
-
Or we sneak a 1-0 win with an 80th min own goal off of Adam Lallana's head. It's so big, you can't miss it.

Yeah, total utter idiot for saying that. That did kind of open the door wide open. I wonder if the clear and structured plans in place were to sell everyone? There are obviously subtle digs at NC in that statement, but he was a naive idiot for going to the media with it. Totally set the tone. The new board do not fill me with any confidence what so ever. Ralf is a mumbling moron, Gareth - I'm not quite sure what he does, get the feeling he's out of his depth. Hans - statement says it all. I still think we're lucky Les stayed around, only person with any footballing sense around the place. That's why he still has my trust and I still feel we may salvage something from this unreal situation.
